- Born the second son of Katherine Anne and her husband Christopher Summers, Alex was quite happy in his younger years. He idolized his elder brother, by just a few years, Scott.
- Their father was an Air Force Test Pilot and quite the American Iconic Hero. He would often take the family on flights about the country. Their early years were spent in Hawaii and then later wherever their father was stationed. Which found many remote locations. Their mother was the main constant in their lives and she was the family anchor.
- It wasn't until a vacation/camping trip to the wilds of Alaxka that the family saw true strife in the form of loss. During a flight in the small family plane, they were attacked by an alien craft. The small plane stood no chance against the onslaught and in the chaos their father put a parachute on the both of them and pushed them out of the plane.
- As they fell, they saw the plane being torn apart by the space ship's death rays. Falling toward the ground, the boys tried to open the chute, it failed as it had caught on fire from the explosion, and in the panic, Scott's mutant power surfaced in the form of projected energy from his eyes. Projecting it downward, it slowed the descent of the two enough so as the impact would not kill them. However, they did receive mild amnesiac like concussions which clouded their memories of the past, at least until later in life.
- What happened after the crash remained a haze for most of his adolescent life. During that time, Alex and Scott were both taken and placed in an orphanage within Omaha, Nebraska by a man named Nathaniel Essex who took an interest in Scott over Alex.
- Essex was in reality a very evil man named Sinister and it was the surfacing of Scott's power that drew his attention.
- Alex was pushed aside and allowed to be adopted by a family whose name was Blandings. They adopted Alex in an attempt to replace their son Todd who had been killed in a car accident. They had a daughter named Haley and shortly after the adoption, she and Alex were kidnapped by the boy who killed the prior son.
- During the trauma, Alex manifested his powers for the first time and incinerated the boy. Sinister arrived surprised by the power that Alex displayed but due to his lack of control, he left them be except for erasing their memories of the incident and allowing Alex to continue his life with this family.
- Years would past and over that time Alex suppressed memories of his brother and the airplane crash (the concussion of that time also helped him forget).
- Throughout his teens he was very rebellious and didn't follow the standard inhibitions that most would. However, he always maintained good grades in school which earned him a scholarship at the University of California in Berkeley. Still in college, he suffered an internal rage that would keep him in trouble, yet his grades didn't suffer.
- During college, Alex never truly gained a control over his anger, but he was able to partially channel it into something a little more constructive. Geology. He loved rocks. They were something stable for him, something he could really anchor himself into.
- Over the next 5 or so years, Alex would associate himself with Archeology digs and 'rent' himself out as their geologist. Geologists are important on these digs to help identify geographic/geologic formations and help the archeologists to work better with the earth formations. He acted as a gopher and a field hand mostly, but it was still rewarding for him so he continued.
- He finally graduated UC Berkeley and when the opportunity presented itself, he landed a job with a renown archeologist named Ahmet Abdol.
- Ahmet was a mutant known as the Living Pharaoh which seemed to share a bond with the young Alex and recognized him as a mutant.
- Abdol soon realized that Alex was unconsciously blocking the use of his own powers and also noted that Alex may be a source for more power for Abdol.
- They both traveled to Egypt which is where things would then turn badly for Alex.
- Once they reached Egypt, Abdol had a plan to utilize Alex's hidden mutant potential to control cosmic energy for his own designs and to further boost his own power at Alex's expense.
- Abdol lured Alex into a containment area which would siphon off the cosmic power that Alex possesses. In doing so, the Living Pharaoh was able to gain the control over his own power and absorb Alex's cosmic energies. The Living Pharaoh was then converted into the Living Monolith, a gigantic mutant who could control cosmic energies.
- Learning of the danger, the X-Men then made haste to Egypt to put a stop to the rampaging mutant. The X-Men went into battle against the Monolith. It was when Alex's power overloaded the machine was he freed from the containment module, which turned the battle in the favor of the X-Men.
- Once the battle was over, Scott and Alex met for the first time in years, but it was not known to either of them that they were brothers.
- Deciding to stay in Egypt to complete the job he was originally hired to do, Alex remained behind to confront not only that job, but the need to learn to control his own abilities. The X-Men departed.
- No sooner had the X-Men left Egypt had Alex been confronted by another threat in the shape of a gigantic robot known as a Sentinel. With little difficulty, Alex was defeated by the robot and then taken to a secret laboratory of Larry Trask, the inventor of the Sentinel Robot series.
- Trask took note of Alex's power issues and designed a suit to contain and focus his powers. The suit was basically black, but as the power within Alex grew, white circles would appear from the chest and extend outward like a target thus detailing that Alex was like a cosmic battery and eventually needed to discharge this power else a chance of overloading the suit would occur.
- Trask also donned the name Havok on Alex as a codename in regards to the potential of his powers.
- The X-Men returned to Egypt once again and saved Alex from Trask and his Sentinels. During the conflict, many of the X-Men were injured and needed to seek non-conventional help.
- They learned of a man named Lykos who promised to give aid to them. However, Lykos was a mutant with the ability to leech power from humans; however, when he would drain Mutants, Lykos would shift into the form of Sauron, a pterodactyloid.
- When he encountered Alex's power, Lykos tried to drain some of the mutant's power which forced Lycos into the form of Sauron.
- The team was able to drive Sauron off, and they too then departed. Alex then returned to Salem Center with the team and with the assistance of Xavier, Alex and Scott learned they were the long lost siblings (much therapy would ensue after this revelation).
- Alex Summers, AKA Havok stayed with the X-men for a time, yet never really joined them fully. He learned to control his powers and became quite a capable combatant in the process.
- He and his brother Scott spent much of this time learning of each other's lives and it was also during this time that Alex started to show the first signs of resentment toward his brother and his 'holier than thou' attitude.
- Then came the distraction in the form of a 5'8", legs all the way up to heaven, green haired girl named Lorna Dane.
- Alex was suddenly smitten the moment he laid his eyes on her. There was only one problem, she was already involved with Bobby Drake, AKA Iceman.
- After some wooing, and of course conflict with Iceman, Havok eventually won the eyes of Lorna.
- They both spent much time together within the X-Mansion and learned to control their powers together while they also learned that they had so much in common, their love for Geophysics for one.
- Also during this time they would assist the X-Men when needed, but they preferred to study and try to live a normal life.
- It wasn't until a mission, with the X-Men, against the living island of Krakoa; did they realize that heroic life wasn't for them and they wished to leave the mission and head out on their own. They claimed not to be the "adventurous type(s)'.
- Lorna and Alex ventured west to UC Berkeley where they both worked on a doctorate in geology and geophysics.
- As time went by, they were given access to the Diablos mountain range in Arizona where they conducted research together toward their doctorates.
- It wasn't long before they were abducted by Erik the Red in his plight to prevent the meeting of Xavier and the alien Lillandra.
- During this time Polaris gained her final code name of Polaris.
- What started out as an abduction and attempt to make them pawns, turned out to be another X-Men battle on Muir Island where the X-Men were presumed dead until the Phoenix showed up and sorted out the details thus giving aid to Xavier and Lillandra.
- Even trying to return to their normal lives, the two were drawn into another plot, via threats to innocents, by Arcade to have them attack Dr. Doom.
- The two turned around and were able to free the innocents and Arcade was routed before the plot would be brought to light.
- During a time with the X-Men on a 'assist mission', Alex and Lorna, along with Scott met the Starjammers and Corsair finally identified himself as the father of Alex and Scott.
- It was shortly after that, the two brothers had a reunion with Christopher Summers and were introduced to their true grandparents in Alaska.
- Things went well until one day when Lorna disappeared. He couldn't find her and in all his searching he ended back up at the X-Mansion to seek help.
- He arrived toward the end of the 'Mutant Massacre' and learned of Polaris' abduction by Malice and her subsequent affiliation with the Marauders.
- During the next few months the Marauders would face the X-Men in epic battles which would see Malice nearly killing Alex each time.
- This external struggle (the loss of Polaris to an unreachable enemy) would be compiled with his internal struggle (the living within his brother's shadow and the loss of control over his powers).
- It was then, the main team of the X-Men were sent off to face the Adversary and with the aid of Forge, they gave their lives to close the portal that would seal the Adversary off from the world.
- This happened in Dallas and the rest of the world assumed the X-Men were all dead.
- Instead, a prisoner of the Adversary called Roma, was freed and re-created the X-Men from scratch and planted them in the western Australia desert giving them new lives and the ability not to be seen by electronic means.
- They immediately confronted the Reavers and took over the villains base.
- The team was defined as two distinct groups. Which showed Alex, Madelyne Pryor, Colossus, Storm, Dazzler, and Psylocke in Australia as the X-men while in the other part of the world, the original X-Men retained the guize as X-Factor to confront villainy in New York City.
- During this time, Alex and Madelyne found themselves growing closer together as they both had a common history of being jilted lovers.
- Madelyne lost Scott to another woman, and Alex was still without Lorna due to some evil.
- Madelyne in truth was a clone of Jean Grey imbued with a touch of the Phoenix force and had made pacts with the Demon N'astrith to destroy Scott out of revenge. So, she began to pit brother against brother.
- Eventually the truth came out about Madelyne's history and thus came the Inferno where she would become the Goblin Queen and Havok her slave. In trying to destroy the son of Jean and Scott, she was killed and Alex found more guilt in his life.
- There were many other conflicts and eventually Alex was mentally contacted through dreams and psychic impressions by his former love Lorna. She was discovered to be in the Savage Land and being held hostage by Zaladane (a woman claiming to be Lorna's sister).
- Zaladane had stripped Lorna of her magnetic powers and Lorna had become more brickish.
- Reunited, the two would battle Zaladane but eventually return to Australia via Gateway.
- Psylocke had a precognitive impression that the X-Men would lose their next battle against the Reavers and subsequently tricked the team into entering the Seige Perilous.
- Alex, not knowing who he truly was, ended up in Genosha, a country that enslaved Mutants and used them to make the normal's lives better.
- He was drafted and soon became a high ranking Magistrate in the Genoshan Army.
- It wasn't until the 'X-Tinction Agenda' where he encountered Rahne.
- He had not yet gained his memory, not until he came face to face with his brother Scott and in a heated battle, his memories surfaced.
- He kept those memories to himself so as to get close to the head of the Genoshan government, Cameron Hodge.
- It was then seen in a final battle that Alex (along with Scott) landed the killing blow against Hodge.
- The Genoshan government would subsequently fall and instead of returning with the X-Men, Alex and Rahne remained to help the rest of the Mutates find freedom from a still oppressed society.
- Months later, still with Rahne, Havok was approached by Valerie Cooper and invited to join a new United States Government team called X-Factor.
- He declined until he was informed that Lorna was already a member.
- Accepting, Alex took Rahne with him and they found their new homes in Washington D.C. right along with Guido, Jamie Madrox, Quicksilver, and of course Lorna Dane.
- During their first few months, the new team took their lumps and finally learned about teamwork and actually working together. They fought many villains and then Alex learned of Rahne's affections.
- He struggled with his internal strife once again in the guise of still living with his older brother's successes, his former love for Lorna, his considerations of Rahne, and his external struggles of trying to lead a Government team, and facing many villains a week.
- Finally, Havok was joined by Mirage, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Revanche, and Lifeguard.
- They reformed X-Factor and began anew.
- X-Factor became the premiere, and most active, mutant team around. They went up against many villains including (but not limited to), The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, The Winter Guard, Omega Flight, various Neverland villains, Arcade, The Marauders, The Hellfire Club, Savage Land Mutates, Ares' Shadow Army, Sentinels, Hellions, The Right (Smile-Faces), evil Morlocks, LMDs, Danger, Deviants, Mutant Liberation Front, the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, Super Skrulls, Kree forces, each other, HYDRA, X-Force, Serpent Society, Heavy Metal Horde, Mutant Force, and many, many others.
- Other changes that took place were in the roster. Over the months that would follow, X-Factor would gain and lose various heroes in their ranks. Such as Rush, Sunpyre, Gypsy Moth, Dervish, and others.
- The team also came into possession of a newly rediscovered SHIP (Celestial Ship from the far future). They used it as their base in the heart of Mutant Town, Manhattan.
- As with all good things, X-Factor had its rise and its fall and soon Havok was assumed killed in action and the team drifted apart.
- Instead of actually dying, Havok was cast into a parallel world where he was the leader of a drastically altered version of X-Factor, known as The Six.
- In this world, he was the leader of the original X-Men; Cyclops was abducted by the Shi'ar along with his parents.
- Also in this reality, he was Madelyne Pryor, with whom he had a son named Scotty, and all his friends were twisted versions of the ones he knew.
- Despite being unfamiliar with this realm, Havok willingly took over the role of father for Scotty, though the boy knew he was not really his dad.
- Havok lead the Six and his adventures in this reality lead to a disastrous adventure which left most superhumans on that world dead.
- In this, Havok learned that he was the nexus of all realities, thus Havok was able to save the world itself before being cast into black nothingness.
- Once again, instead of dying, Havok's comatose body was discovered back in the original reality (616) by the X-Men.
- He was being cared for in a coma ward by a nurse called Annie Ghazikhanian.
- The X-Men were able to restore his psyche with the help of Annie's son, Carter.
- He was then reunited with Polaris, she asked him to marry her; he never actually answered (it was assumed he was in agreement). However, Havok was confused and felt that he had fallen out of love with Polaris - that in fact he was in love with Annie.
- The trick of it all was that Carter had used his telepathy on Havok while he was comatose. Making Havok dream about Annie and fall in love with her.
- During the wedding, Alex stopped the proceedings and called off the marriage.
- Due to the Genoshan affect on Polaris, she had a psychotic break and tried to kill Annie and Carter. But was stopped by the Juggernaut and Havok.
- To make matters worse, Iceman was already in a relationship with Annie. This strained things when Havok told Annie that he was in love with her. Once again, Iceman was jilted by someone whom Havok wooed.
- Annie and Havok maintained a relationship until an impending attack by Exodus and the Brotherhood. Annie noted that she no longer wished to live within the mansion for it risked her and her son. She wanted Havok to come with her when they left, but his duty was to his team. He stayed.
- With Annie and her son out of the picture, Havok's mind began to recover from the telepathic influence. (No idea how Xavier didn't see that crap.)
- Polaris had reentered a relationship with Iceman when Havok revealed that he was under the influence of Carter and that he truly loved Lorna. (Bam, another moment of jilted love experienced by Iceman - I'll bet he hates Havok by this point.)
- House of M came and went and with it, Polaris lost her powers. In this, she decided to leave the X-Men.
- Havok journeyed with her and Polaris was abducted by a creature called 'Daap'.
- Havok returned to the X-Mansion to find a Sphinx/Apocalypse was attacking and he helped. With Apocalypse there as Pestilence. During the battle, Pestilence was revealed to be Polaris.
- All of this revolved around a meta-plague that Apocalypse wanted to release upon the world. However, it was destroyed by Havok and the human population was saved. (Yay, Havok saves the day, again.)
- Polaris was also saved by Havok and her powers had been restored by Apocalypse.
- Havok was recruited by Professor X, along with Marvel Girl, Nightcrawler, Warpath, Darwin, and Polaris to participate in a space mission to stop Vulcan from unleashing his powers on the Shi'ar empire.
- The team struggles to defeat Vulcan over the course of many battles.
- Havok and Polaris return to official relationship status.
- They are united with the Starjammers and wage a final battle in front of the M'Kraan Crystal which Xavier is cast into.
- Corsair is killed.
- Essentially they drive off Vulcan and his Imperial Guard, however they have not won the war.
- Nightcrawler, Warpath, and Hepizbah help Darwin return the injured Professor Xavier back to Earth. Leaving Havok and Polaris to lead the Starjammers.
- A civil war is sparked between Vulcan's forces and those loyal to Lilandra.
- Havok leads Lilandra's forces and they gradually whittle away at Vulcan's forces.
- The Shi'ar are not happy to have an ousider as their ruler. This makes many Shi'ar defect to Lilandra's side.
- Adding in the Scy'ar Tal, Vulcan's forces take heavy losses. The Scy'ar Tal wish to destroy all of Shi'ar and reclaim the M'Kraan Crystal. The Scy'ar Tal use a star teleporting weapon that destroys all in its path.
- Vulcan calls for a ceasefire and asks for alignment with the Starjammers to defeat the Scy'ar Tal.
- The aligned forces assault the Scy'ar Tal star teleporting facility and eventually find a means to destroy the Eldest (leader of the Scy'ar Tal).
- Vulcan then blasts Havok into a nearby star.
- While Vulcan is busy about to destroy the Scy'ar Tal once and for all, Havok returns and, having absorbed enough power to burn Vulcan, he decides to end his brother's reign.
- Alex destroys Finality (Scy'ar Tal facility) and take Vulcan into custody where he is then placed into prison.
- Havok, Polaris, and other captured Starjammers are kept in a deep underwater prison 20 miles below a planet's surface.
- Havok and Polaris are tortured daily and forced to hear each other's screams. Powerless to do anything about it.
- Vulcan informs Havok that the events of the Messiah Complex and that the baby is gone. He also notes that Xavier is dead and the X-Men are no more.
- Havok laughs in the face of such a reveal and notes that the 'baby' represents a beacon of hope.
- Though contained and cut off from most power sources, Havok was able to collect energy and slowly build up his charge.
- When the time was right, Havok blasted through the door and killed two guards.
- He freed his teammates and instead of escaping, he decided that they would wait for Vulcan's return.
- Vulcan did return and both he and Deathbird were severely wounded.
- The Starjammers were then forced to flee to the Kree Imperium where they took would encounter Black Bolt and the Inhumans who ruled the empire.
- Lilandra was saved.
- At the end of the War of Kings, Vulcan was destroyed by the T-Bomb.
- With the war against Vulcan ended, Havok and Polaris remained with the Starjammers to help rebuild the Shi'ar empire. Though they have plans to return to Earth as soon as possible to help with the continued mutant struggles.
- Returning to Earth, Alex (with Lorna and Rachel) discovered that there had been a Schism within the X-Men and things were broken.
- Siding with Wolverine, he (with Lorna) was placed within the team of X-Factor once again (thinking that the leader Madrox was dead). *Adventures were had.
- Madrox returned. He and Alex shared co-leadership. This didn't work out.
- Deciding to leave the group. Alex asked Lorna to join him. However, she refused. They decided that they needed time apart from one another after their space adventures.
- After leaving X-Factor, Alex visited his brother Scott whom was apprehended after the events of Avengers vs X-Men.
- Alex was then contacted by Captain America whom invited him to join the newest Avengers team called the Uncanny Avengers. He accepted.
- They then fought the Red Skull.
- He then began a romantic relationship with Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp).
- Things got weird when Angel's children (Apocalypse Twins - Eimon and Uriel) destroyed the earth and created a location called Planet X - which was a paradise for mutants.
- Alex and Janet would conceive a child (Katie Summers) who would be born into this new paradise.
- Knowing that the world needed to be fixed, Alex and Janet found a way to travel back in time to undo the destruction. However, in doing so, they lost their child to Kang.
- The world was turned upside down when many of the world's heroes and villains shifted alignments due to an Inversion Spell.
- Alex would become a murderous fascist with dreams of mutant supremacy.
- During this event, Alex would try to exterminate humans and bring much conflict. Eventually, it would come to an end. However he was deeply affected by the events and would disappear from everyone's radar.
- During the Secret Wars, Alex would find himself working alongside the resistance to overthrow the god, Doom.
- He would eventually find death in this endeavor and a release from all that troubled him.
- When Reed Richards 'fixed' the universe, Alex would find himself returned to Earth-616 where he would strive to make the world a better place.
Alex needs Anger Management Classes. He has a sharp and brash temper which is set off by the slightest provocation. These issues have often gotten him into more trouble than he would like. Generally, the best way to deal with his anger is to walk away and allow him to cool down a bit.
Alex has always been rebellious in nature. Even in his youth, he would choose conflict over passive behavior. If given a choice between roads to travel, he would take the one less traveled. This normally brings him into odds with his family and his friends. Though he's a caring individual, he chooses himself first over his friends. Further, he doesn't like authority figures and given the situation with the Government, he's often resistant to doing things their way.
Alex has always been an outsider looking in. Ever since the plane crash and the subsequent foster homes, he's never had a true family. And though he finally settled with the Masters name, he's never really felt like one. He desires a true family and hopes one day that he can find one.
When needed, Alex will always come running to the aid of his friends and family regardless of how much it hurts him inside to be around them, or how much he's hurt them in the past.
Regardless of how successful Alex can be, he will always doubt himself and compare himself to Scott and Xavier. For example, even though he successfully planned the entire rebellion against his brother Vulcan and the Shi'ar empire, he still doubted whether or not it would work. That if Scott or Xavier were doing the planning, it would surely work. He's a natural leader, yet, the self-doubt always gets in the way.
Havok has been around for years upon years. He's been a member or leader of several X-Teams and has had experiences well beyond his years. There's very little that surprises him and in this, he's familiar on how to deal with most situations.
Alex has significant power. Such that it can get out of hand. He's considered one of the more powerful of the X-types and often the most volatile. With this in mind, he's surely going to do damage to something, if not the target, the surrounding area.
Alex is in constant turmoil between success and self-doubt. He's always trying to out-shine his brother and make a name for himself. In this he goes above and beyond the standard operating procedure to ensure that it is successful - however he doubts himself the whole way.
Alex is motivated by the cause of justice and the protection of those who cannot protect themselves. He strives to make a difference for everyone. He wants to bring peace to the world, even at a cost to his own self.
As a player, it is a simple goal to get out and roleplay. I have always enjoyed this character - as seen in my extensive traits - and wish to continue to do so. I intend to run scenes and give people something to do.
Alex's mutant ability is to absorb Cosmic Radiation and convert it to fiery plasma to be projected at whatever target he desires. Cosmic Radiation is defined as Starlight, Cosmic Waves, Microwave Radiation, Gamma Radiation, Nuclear Radiation, X-Radiation, and similar cosmic energies found intra or extra planetary which bombard the Earth on a daily basis. His body acts as a battery in this absorption and from a complete drain, he's able to recharge himself within 20 hours to reach a peak load. As with any battery, he must discharge this gained and converted energy within every 32 hour period otherwise he will have gained enough energy in his body to produce an uncontrolled spontaneous discharge of this energy in the form of a globe of plasma that would surround his body and completely drain him for another 20 hours leaving him weakened and with a headache. Alex normally tries to expel enough energy every 24 hours so as to prevent this from happening. In special circumstances he's able to absorb any radiation ambient or projected into him and subsequently convert it into his fiery plasma. This has been demonstrated when he had to absorb the radiation of a nuclear reactor as well as falling into a star charged him up such that he was able to perform other special effects and subsequently defeat Vulcan.
Special note: The Earth is shielded from most Cosmic Radiation by the Van Allen Radiation Belts and the atmosphere. If Alex was removed from the Earth, and taken out of a shielded environment (space ship/station, other planetary body with atmosphere and natural shielding), he would be exposed to more Cosmic Radiation at a higher level and thus need to expel or discharge his energy stores more frequently.
Havok's ability to absorb cosmic radiation (starlight, microwaves, gamma rays…) allows him to convert this energy into white hot fiery plasma. These blasts are directed down both of his arms and focused toward whatever target he deems fit. He is also able to direct these blasts in two separate directions if he parts his arms. Thus allowing for a spread/area or multiple target attacks.
His blasts have no concussive force. However, in its projection, the air molecules that are being atomized in the path of the blast along with the atoms that the blast impacts with are atomized and create a force associated with an explosion as those atoms are projected outward during the atomization phase. Havok is able to project this energy with such intensity that it can destroy most known materials.
Havok does not have fine manipulation of his power. He cannot narrow the beam down to some fine laser and cut items like a torch would.
Due to his genetic makeup, Alex is immune to his brother's optiblast. This blast does not affect him what-so-ever except for the concussive force it generates. The feeling is mutual as his attacks do not affect Scott. Havok is also immune to his own power.
Havok possesses a super-suit that channels his plasma in various directions allowing him to fly at speeds upward of 100mph. He can do this for approximately an hour before he must rest and recharge.
Havok has access to the X-Men database. This affords him knowledge of things on Earth and beyond.
Over the years, Havok has had exposure to many heroes and villains. In this, he's made friends (in both realms) and thus may be able to call upon these people in time of need.
Due to his long history with the X-Men and sub teams, he's quite the popular guy and friend to many.
Havok owns a Jeep.
The one constant in Alex's life is Lorna Dane. They have been in an on-again, off-again relationship since they were in college.
Havok has been fitted with numerous super suits over the years. Many of them have had power regulators and storage devices fitted into them. The current suit helps him regulate his buildup and also gives him the ability to fly.
Havok is skilled in many forms of martial combat. This includes hand to hand, muscle powered weapons, firearms, sci-fi weapons, and is highly skilled in the application of them in regards to a combat theater (tactics).
Havok has spent years in space and is familiar with the going's on between many galactic empires and its' peoples. Alongside the cosmic politics, he's familiar with astronavigation, astral combat, astral travel, cosmic energies/radiation, celestial bodies, gravity, and all the little matters such as environmental suits.
Havok has spent many days/weeks/months camping and spending time in nature. This was mostly in part when he worked as a Geologist for an Archeologist dig site in remote locations. This affords him the ability to know land and how to survive on it with minimal resources in such climes as Jungle, Tropical, Temperate, Mountain, Desert, and Arctic. He's also familiar with flora and fauna of said environs.
Havok doesn't much care for or want to deal with politics. However in his adventures, he has obtained a minor understanding of the inner workings of politics. Especially in those involving Galactic Empires and how to deal with US Senators that try to run oversight on a hero team. Yet, most of his 'handling of' said persons would just mean 'blast them'.
Havok has a way with inspiring and leading people. Though he's filled with his own self doubt, he is still a natural born leader. He's able to relate to the common and uncommon man in ways that will bring them to rise against even the most overpowering of enemies. Also, between him and Cyclops, Havok is the hero of the people; The one that seems more /common/ and /relatable/ than overbearing and uptight.
Havok has a master's degree in Geophysics and is working toward his PhD. He's also had exposure to many other science fields, but none that he understands as well as Geology.
Havok has been exposed to many high tech devices over the years he's been with the X-Teams. These are often alien in origin and he's able to utilize such tech if need be. This does not mean he can build or repair such tech.
If it flies, drives, floats etc, Havok can likely pilot it (and likely crash it - totally not his fault). In all regards, Havok is a skilled and competent pilot able to pilot and drive anything from a dinghy all the way up to an interstellar starship in and out of combat.
Havok is vulnerable to mutant-specific complications or tech. This includes, but is not limited to: Mutant Hatred/Racial Violence, Mutant Neutralizing Weaponry, Mutant Neutralizing Collars, Mutating Mutations, and Mutant Stigma.
Havok is required to discharge his energy within every 32 hours or he will suffer a meltdown. This meltdown causes physical and emotional stress as well as it disrupts or destroys his immediate environment due to the sudden explosive release of stored plasma.
Alex has a daughter with Janet Van Dyne named Katie Summers in an alternate timeline - or in her case, out of time. Presently, the whereabouts of Katie is unknown. However, what is known is that Kang abducted her. Thus, she survived the undoing of the Planet X timeline.
During his tenure with the X-Men, X-Factor, Avengers and Starjammers, Havok has made a long, long list of enemies. Many of these will try to kill him, others watch and wait in the shadows. But in all instances, they are dangerous to him and the ones he loves.
Havok has been the victim of many manipulations over the years. Often it's his own fault for believing in people and wanting to see the best in them.
