- Steven Grant Rogers was born on the 4th of July, 1920. His father died when he was only a child, and his mother passed away in his late teens.
- He was an average, if not runtish, young man, but he had an honorable personality and respectful attitude. He never lacked in courage, and always stood for what's right.
- His honor and dutiful nature instilled in him a need to join the Army. He was turned down due to a lackluster physique and questionable health, being a bit on the skinny and waifish side.
- Doctor Abraham Erskine was searching for volunteers for an experimental secret program, and took note of Rogers' personality and attempt to join the army. With some quick pencilwork on the doctor's behalf, Steve was enlisted and brought into the program.
- Being given a compound known as the Super-Soldier Serum, and then exposed to vita-rays, caused Steve to undergo physical changes that gave him the perfect body, with enhanced strength, speed, and stamina. Thus, the Super Soldier was born.
- After receiving loads of training in combat and military tactics, as well as mental conditioning in the event he is captured by enemies (as well as gaining the 'Captain America' title and uniform), he is shipped off to war, namely to act as a counter to the Red Skull, who was the leader of Nazi terrorist operations.
- Captain America was given the disc shaped, indestructible shield by Franklin D. Roosevelt, built using some vibranium given to Steve from Black Panther.
- Steve fought in several battles, and met many friends in this time. Along with a few other unique individuals, Steve formed a super-team, later dubbed by Winston Churchill as "The Invaders".
- On a mission to stop Baron Zemo from harming innocents with a drone plane, Captain America and his sidekick, Bucky, were considered killed when the bomb on the plane exploded. In reality, Steve was thrown into freezing waters in the north Atlantic. Searches for him and Bucky failed and they were considered dead.
- The Super-Soldier serum flowing in Rogers' veins prevented his body and bodily fluids from crystallizing in the extreme cold, and as such, Captain America was put in a state of suspended animation after being thrown into arctic temperature waters.
- He was found, many years later, by an old comrade and member of the Invaders: Namor, the Submariner, which then led to his discovery by the Avengers. They brought Cap back from animation and invited him to join their ranks, giving him the status as a founding member.
- With his abilities and personality, Rogers made for a perfect leader, and as such, he took on the leadership role within the Avengers. He was must respected and like by his companions, and they generally followed his commands in the field despite who was actually leading the team.
*During this time, the Avengers encountered Baron Zemo, who organized a group of villains known as the Masters of Evil. Battles ensued which resulted in the apparent death of Zemo in an accidental rockslide. After these series of battles, the other founders took a leave of absence, forcing Captain America to form another team.
- Nick Fury, an old war comrade and friend of Captain America's, asked him for a favor. Rogers, in cooperation with a handful of other superheroes, were giving a mission to help Fury depose Lucia von Bardas and her government.
- The mission was ran without the backing of the US government as Fury had took matters into his own hands. In an attempt to kill Bardas, Fury killed a number of innocent civilians in the crossfire when he brought down Castle Doom. Knowing that he would face charges (or worse), he erased the past couple of days of memory from the heroes on his team.
- Some months later, it was made aware to Captain America what Fury had done. After Rogers confronted Fury, Bardas had made a return and attempted to destroy New York city to get revenge upon Fury. Her attempt was thwarted, however.
- Following a tragedy centered around Scarlet Witch, the Avengers broke up, and were completely disbanded for several months.
- At the Raft, a jailbreak was organized and forced by Electro, which caused Captain America to meet with a former fellow Avenger in Iron-Man, and gained his aid in forming a new team of Avengers.
- This 'New Avengers' team was originally opposed by the current director of S.H.I.E.L.D. However, thanks to a special license, Captain America had the ability to form a team of anyone he wanted, whenever he wanted, and he needed noone's permission to do so. As such, most of everyone who was at the jailbreak was drafted into the New Avengers. Under Captain America, the New Avengers saw many victories.
Steve Rogers is the literal embodiment of the 'American Dream'. Freedom, justice, and liberty for all. He is honest to a fault, and is a firm believer that the rights of others should never be infringed and their beliefs should be respected, so long as doing so does not alienate the rights of anyone else.
Steve Rogers is a born leader. He is an optimist, always seeing the positive aspects in a person. He is confident, and as such, instills confidence in his teammates. He leads by inspiration, and at times this also serves as one of his most powerful abilities, able to lead his team away from the brink of defeat to secure a victory.
Captain America has devoted himself to protecting others, such as those incapable of protecting themselves. He also is a strong protector of the American way, and will defend American ideals such as freedom and justice, even to the death. He is also color-blind in the sense that he sees all people as equals. A man's actions define him, in Captain America's eyes, not the color of his skin or the religion he believes in.
Captain America is motivated by his desire to protect others. He is a strong believer in the American Way. He tirelessly seeks to fight injustice and anything that might infringe upon the basic, inalienable rights of people everywhere.
Captain America wants to reform the Avengers, and with them, continue pursuing injustice and evil. At the same time, he wants to try and mend whatever bridges were broken during the Secret Wars. In his eyes, Earth's heroes are exponentially stronger hwen they are united. He also seeks to help innocents who may have been negatively effected by these recent events…
The Super-Soldier serum has enhanced Steve's physical capabilities to the very peak of human potential. His body continually breaks down lactic acid buildup in his muscles, affording him endurance far beyond that of a normal human being. This contributes to his ability to regularly lift well over 500 kilograms, and maintain a running speed of 80 kilometers per hour. His agility and reflexes are similarly augmented. The serum also affected the metabolism and regeneration rate of his cells, allowing him to recover from serious injuries that would incapacitate a normal human for weeks or even months in just a few days. He is also highly resilient to poisons and gases.
There has always been one thing about Steve Rogers that was undeniable, even before he became Captain America: he doesn't give up. Serious injury, staggering adversity, or seemingly unwinnable odds are only minor obstacles to Captain America if he believes what he's doing is the right thing to do.
Captain America's shield is formed of an alloy of vibranium and some unknown substance. It was created by Dr. Myron MacLain. This shield is almost entirely indestructible, able to stop/deflect bullets and reflect energy attacks. It can withstand immense physical force, as well, having taken a blow from Mjolnir without even getting a dent. It also serves as an offensive weapon for Captain America, as he is able to capably fight with it in melee, as well as using it as a thrown weapon. His uniform is water and fire retardant, made of Kevlar, nomex, and light-weight titanium, providing ample protection from some basic things like falls and normal sharp objects.
Whether it's as the World War II-era hero or as the leader of the Avengers, Captain America is a household name in the United States and abroad. He's cultivated a vast network of friends and allies across the world, and even those who haven't met him before are often willing to cooperate with him based on his reputation alone.
While not superhuman, the serum enhanced Steve's senses in such a way that they are more attuned and sensitive than most humans. While not a power, there are situations in which this can be considered advantageous.
The Super Soldier Serum has completed halted Steve's aging process. While not immortal in the true sense, he will live much longer than a normal human, and will always maintain his youth until death.
Before the war, Steve was a fine arts student in Brooklyn. While his transformation into Captain America meant he was no longer able to pursue a career as an artist, he was unofficially an artist for several of the 1940s comic book serials based off of himself, ad he continues to draw in his spare time.
Between specialized combat training by the US Army, several years fighting Nazis in WW2, and over a decade of active superheroing in modern times, Steve has become one of the best hand-to-hand combatants currently living. He encorporates a wide variety of martial arts picked up from his many adventures and his enhanced strength, speed, and dexterity into a very effective personal combat style that he has, on several occasions, been willing to teach others.
Through years of military training and experience as a superhero, undoubtedly combined with some positive effects from the Super Soldier Serum, Captain America has become known as a brilliant tactician and strategist. He is even considered by some to be the greatest tactician on the planet.
Besides his native English, Cap is also fluent in German, Russian, Spanish, and Japanese. He also speaks some French and Italian, and can generally pick up the basics of any language with ease.
Captain America has been thoroughly trained on military tactics, and is considered to be quite advanced in their application. The list of these skills is quite extensive. A few examples, but not limited to, are the follow: Intelligence gathering, drill and ceremony, disguising, interrogating, demolitions/explosives, communication systems, vehicular combat, survival tactics, and read/speaking in code.
Through his considerable training in martial arts, combined with his enhanced physical/mental abilities, Steve is also quite masterful at fighting with weapons other than his shield. He is an expert level marksman, and as such, is good at using firearms, however he usually chooses not to use them. He is good with other melee weapons as well, such as swords and staves.
Steve Rogers was born and raised in a much different America than the one he lives in today. As such, the ideals and values Steve has are not as commonly seen today as they were back when he was born. Steve's honesty and sense of duty can work against him at times, and during those times, someone can suffer needlessly. It is a source of constant concern for Steve. America has an ideal image for Steve, and it is worrisome for him that he may not live up to the expectations set before him.
While he has the Super Soldier Serum and the benefit of human perfection that it provides, Captain America is still human. Bullets and knives can still kill him, and he is not impervious to keen manipulators.
