Origin

+ Part 1: Young Matt

*Son of a single father, Jonathan "Battling Jack" Murdock a professional boxer. He was raised in Hell's Kitchen in New York.

*Urged by his father to study hard so as to have a better life than he himself did. He was warned not to fight with the other boys in the neighborhood.

*Teased by the other kids in the neighborhood, Matt took to training himself at the gym where his father trained.

*One day as a child, he saw a blind man walking towards a truck. He pushed the man out of the way, though the truck crashed and doused the chemicals it had been carrying across Matt's face, blinding him.

*During his recovery, he first noticed his enhanced senses.

*Shortly after being released from the hospital he came under the tutelage of a bland man named Stick, who taught him to develop his "radar sense" and trained him in hand to hand combat.

*Matt continued to study hard, graduated college and got accepted to Columbia law school.

*Jack was aging and having trouble getting work. A criminal known as the Fixer helped him find a match, but wanted him to throw the fight.

*Jack refused to take the fall and won one last match, but the Fixer had Jack killed out of revenge shortly after.

+ Part 2: Daredevil

*This prompted Matt to take the persona of the Daredevil for the first time and went to punish the Fixer and his men.

*During his revenge spree he came to believe he had accidently killed an innocent woman, he was wracked by guilt and fled.

*Matt continued his education and graduated from Columbia, then returned to Hell's Kitchen.

*He worked in a prestigious law firm for a while before leaving to found his own practice with his friend.

*Matt once more decided to become the Daredevil to fight crime and made his first costume from his father's boxing robes.

*Participated in taking down severally criminals, especially where it became entwined with some of his cases.

*Overtime refined his fighting skills and his equipment, getting a more durable suit and adding a few gadgets to his billy clubs.

*Has tended to remain independent of any teams, only joining groups on a temporary basis for threats he could not handle on his own.

Psyche

+ Faithful

Matt is quite religiously Catholic and takes his faith very seriously. He's an avid church goer and often partakes of the sacrament of confession.

+ Guilt

He's prone to fits of guilty conscious when he feels things have gotten away from him or he feels responsible for someone getting hurt, or if he feels he failed in his duty.

+ Lawful

Not only is he a lawyer, but he has a strong sense of moral justice and duty. Despite being a vigilante he's a stickler for making sure criminals a punished by the courts.

+ Merciful

He restrains himself from killing his opponents, and will always do his utmost to make sure his enemies live through their encounters.

+ Dark Side

Murdock boys have a bit of the devil in them. He's also been known to take things too far when under stress, and will sometimes severely injure an opponent.

+ Depression

Matt suffers from bouts of clinical depression, sometimes leading him to indulge some more of his self-destructive tendencies.

+ Motivation

Initially spurred into crime fighting by his father's murder, Matt is more driven know by his sense of morality and his need to see justice done.

+ Goals

For the moment Matt wants to protect his city, and more importantly his neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen from the criminal element.

Abilities

+ Superhuman Touch

Matt's sense of touch goes well beyond human levels. It is sensitive enough to read printed documents by feeling the raised portions of ink on the surface of a page. He's sensitive enough to changes in heat and pressure than he can feel the presence of a person within five feet of him. HE can tell by heat a person's general emotional state, how long a body has been dead, or how long since a machine that has been recently used was last on.

+ Superhuman Smell

Matt can detect odors and smells at a concentration of 30ppm. He's good enough that he can remember people's individual smells and recall them if he's spent at least 5 minutes around them. He can also filter out other smells and track an individual by scent at a distance of fifty feet.

+ Superhuman Hearing

Matt's hearing is seven times more sensitive than that of a normal human. He can detect heartbeats and a distance of over 20 feet, and can hear through standard soundproofing, and can filter out ambient noises such as his own breathing or other conversations to focus on one sound.

+ Superhuman Taste

He can detect any ingredient in food or drink as long as there are atleast 20 mg of that ingredient in the item. It's sensitive enough he can tell you the number of grains of salt on a pretzel.

+ Superhuman Balance

Matt has a sense of balance and equilibrium beyond human norm, about on par with Spider-Man.

+ Proximity Sense

By combining his sensory input on his surroundings he can give himself a nearly accurate picture of his surroundings in 360 degrees, at a minimum range of 75 yards, and even around corners, no concentration needed. Extending to 150 yards with concentration. However closely overlapping items can confuse the sense, and it gives him a general sense of the shape of an object but not its actual appearance.

+ Lie Detector

By listening to heartbeats or sensing the changes in a person's body heat he can tell if they are lying to him or telling the truth. This of course could be fooled by the proper training or the right sociopath.

+ Illusion Resistance

To affect Daredevil with an illusion it must affect all four of his active senses, his sense of smell and touch particularly aids in this resistance.

Advantages

+ Daredevil Suit

Not just a fashion statement, Daredevil's suit also serves as armor. Bulletproof to standard firearms, fireproof, and insulated against electrical attacks. Not completely impervious, but helps to shield him from the brunt of some attacks. The horns aren't just a design element but also serve as antenna that can pick up police scanner frequencies.

+ Billy Clubs

Daredevil's signature weapons are a pair of billy clubs he wields with great proficiency. They have numerous configurations and can be used as a pair of clubs, attached by a cable for a nunchaku or manrikigusari, connected to form a longer staff, or used as a grappling hook.

+ Sensory Memory

While not eidetic, he possesses a good memory for smells and flavors he's experienced before and can place them with ease.

+ Licensed Lawyer

Matt Murdock is a criminal defense lawyer in good standing with the New York state bar, and is entitled to all the privledges that come with that position.

+ Law Firm

Matt is a partner at his own small law firm, along with his friend Foggy Nelson and their secretary Ellen Page. Both also serve as contacts for Matt.

Skills

+ Martial Arts

Murdock uses a unique fighting style that is a combination of mostly Ninjutsu and Boxing, mixed with Jujutsu and Aiki-jujutsu. He has extensive knowledge of the functions of the human body as well as active knowledge of pressure points. As well as knowledge of other ninjutsu skills such as stealth. As well, he has extensive weapon training especially when it comes to stick and chain weapons, though he has shown proficiency with swords and throwing weapons as well. It's stated he has training equivalent to a tenth degree black belt in ninjutsu. He has combat skills honed enough to fight such individuals as Captain America, Wolverine and Iron Fist to standstills.

+ Acrobatics

Daredevil possesses the acrobatic and aerialist abilities of a superb, Olympic-level athlete due to extensive training and his superior sense of balance. Easily one of the best in the world with only a small handful able to rival him, such as Iron Fist, Black Panther and Elektra.

+ Peak Physical Condition

Matt has the strength, endurance and agility at the peak level of a human of his age, height, and size.

+ Legal Knowledge

Matt possesses a law degree and specializes in criminal law, thus has an extensive knowledge of the topic as well as legal proceedings and courtroom etiquette.

+ Man Without Fear

Due to his extensive training in separating his emotions from his thoughts he has resistance to fear, even in the form of toxins or supernaturally induced fear, bordering on the sociopathic.

Disadvantages

+ Blind

Unless he can perceive something through one of his other senses, he just doesn't know it's there. Color is impossible to discern, and writing unless it's textured in some way is impossible for him to read, laminated paper for example. This also keeps him from doing certain activities, such as driving.

+ Officer of the Court

Matt holds himself responsible to the law, and will always try to resolve problems within the confines of the legal system, keeping his opponents alive and turning them over to the proper authorities. As well, his non-costumed behavior is restricted by what he can and can't do as a registered lawyer.

+ Sensory Overload

His greatest strength can also turn into his greatest weakness. Sudden bursts of sensory input that he's not ready for can render him helpless while he recovers, disrupting his proximity sense, or even causing him physical pain.

+ Stranger in a Strange Land

This world, this New York, this Hell's Kitchen is not precisely Matt Murdock's home. Oh it looks the same mostly, there are small variations and differences here and there, but this is not his home. These are not the people he knows. They'll recognize him, and he can pantomime the similarity. But their memories are different, speaking of times that are not like the ones he holds in his mind. He has much to learn over again, and most likely a lot of history that will come back to haunt him.
