One might not expect one of the most dangerous assassins in the world to have started life as a spoiled rich girl, but that's exactly how Elektra's path began. The daughter to business mogul and Greek ambassador Hugo Natchios and his late wife Christina, Elektra's status as an only child (and last remaining part of his wife) meant that he spoiled her rotten. The best schools, the best clothes, exotic trips abroad every year, tutors, jewelry, anything she ever wanted.
Elektra was fortunately a very bright child as well, it meant she drank up all this information quite quickly. She spoke four languages by the time she was six and found school boring. She had an excess energy and a malaise about life that her father found frustrating. So, he put her in martial arts courses in some attempt to work off excess energy. It worked quite well and she ended up being taken into private training before she was ten. This was where she initially met Stick. This is where her life's path truly began.
Elektra may have made it through life without falling into darkness if it wasn't for the cold blooded murder of her father just as she was entering her teenage years. There was still more money than sin, she'd never want for anything, but her father had been her world. All she wanted was revenge. Whether Stick took advantage of this, or he engineered the death of her father, she'll never know. But he certainly stepped in and promised her revenge. That is when she started her training in earnest.
She still finished schooling through private teachers, but learning to fight - learning to take out those who took out her father - that was the most important matter to her. She trained in martial arts up to six hours a day. She took his advice about clearing her head and heart of all emotions. She did her best to turn herself into a weapon who would be ready to take revenge on her father's murderers. If only it would be that easy to find them.
Elektra's first encounter with the Hand began when she hunted them down for, seemingly, being behind her father's murder. Her issues with them were bloody and fast. But, she was not yet twenty and easy led astray. They saw what a valuable asset she could be and decided to turn her on her teacher - Stick. Now, Stick had been like a father to her, so when they planted evidence that he had been the one to murder her father, Elektra went half mad. She hunted him down for almost a year but could never bring herself to complete the act. Finally, she accepted she'd failed as an assassin. Instead of joining the Hand, she went to try and find a normal life for herself.
Elektra moved permanently to the United States and decided to start a degree in International Law at Columbia. Maybe she could focus on the life her father wanted for her, instead of the life she planned after his death. That is where she met Matthew Murdock. He was the first person to make her feel anything again after her father's death. She fell quickly in love, but also quickly bored with her schooling. She began to take mercenary jobs on the side simply to keep herself from going insane with boredom. She also began sparring with her blind lover. For a while, life was good.
The Hand were getting impatient with having lost a vital tool, and Stick was still out there to be dealt with. The next decade ended up being a strange dance between taking more mercenary work and trying to avoid falling in with the hand. Ultimately, she failed. She became one on their best assassins for a few years and their mind washing techniques kept her strung along. It wasn't until they did one final push for her to kill Stick that she began to break out of their brainwashing. Running into Matt Murdock again, she fell in on the side of Daredevil and Stick when the Hand began attacking New York. It was a messy fight.
In the end, Stick and Daredevil were saved, but Elektra died on a roof. Or so they thought. But the Hand has their ways and, using a secret ritual to the Beast, they brought her back fully under their control. Another year in their service passed before they sent her on the worst mission of her life - to kill Matt Murdock. With the Beast screaming in her head and their conditioning more firm than ever, she went to carry out the deed. But, much like Stick before him, she couldn't bring herself to finish the job. So, the Hand did. All her conditioning broke the night Matt Murdock bled out in her arms, but it was too late. She nearly decided to committ suicide herself when she was snatched from her shattered life and brought to this new world. She doesn't know what's going on, but she's also not certain if she's cares. She'd already lost everything before her world disappeared.
Elektra has always found herself bored with a regular life. Even when she was trying to have one, she was fighting on the side and found what mercenary work she could. While part of her longs for normalcy, she's too addicted to adrenaline to keep it around for long.
Elektra carries so much guilt - the death of her father, the eventual death of Stick, the death of Matt Murdock. Justified or not, she blames herself for all of them. She keeps thinking if she was a little better, or a little faster, or made a few different choices, they'd be alive. She'll never forgive herself for that.
Elektra is now driven to try and make up for all the awful she's put into the world. With the loss of Daredevil, she originally planned to try and replace him in Hell's Kitchen. However, now she's been transported somewhere else. She'll still do all she can to make the world a better place now, even if it's partially just so she can commit suicide-by-criminal trying to take people on over her head.
Elektra wishes to die for good doing some right in the world. She doesn't believe that she deserves to live, but also doesn't wish to go without having made some difference in the way Matt used to while he was alive. When she finds out Matt is alive in this reality, she will make it a goal of protecting him and the good he does in this world.
Every person Elektra has ever loved has died. Her father. Stick. Now Matt. She has learned that love means being alone because it paints targets on those for whom you care. It means she keeps people at arm's length now, but that she's also painfully lonely for it.
Elektra's years of training mean that her reflexes are at the peak of human ability. She can respond to an attack fast as most trained predator animals - sometimes faster, depending on how paranoid she is that night. She constantly keeps up her training and is all the more dangerous for her honed response mechanisms.
Through the years of Elektra's training, she has been taught to focus her mind and body away from pain and damage she is receiving. While she still takes injury, she knows how to focus that pain away now and ignore it for the duration of a fight. It means she can take far more damage than most people in combat, but she also drops hard once a fight is done.
Elektra's father was always a very competent business man and has kept his money in untold amounts of banks across the world. So, she is the inheritor of that fortune and will always have access to a mass amount of money even if a single country's economy tanks.
In this world, Elektra still has high political and government connections due to her father having been the Greek ambassador to the United States for two decades. While she doesn't remember all of them, it seems many people here remember Elektra and she has done better about keeping up her International Law in this place. She just has to fake it well, being that she doesn't actually know it all here.
Due to the large amount of money she's inherited, Elektra keeps a highly dangerous arsenal of weapons at all points in time. Assault rifles to hand guns, body armor, a wide variety of knives, machetes and garrotes, Elektra is armed for all sorts of combat needs. She even has fancy, useful things like zip lines, shadow suits, and more finesse gear that isn't directly for killing, but helps her get jobs done far easier.
Elektra currently speaks Greek, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese and English fluently. She's picked up conversational Arabic, Italian and Portuguese in her travels. Part of being a highly intelligent mercenary and assassin means that she has a routine reason to use all these languages as well!
Elektra has been training in some form of martial arts since she was six years old. She's become one of the world's best assassins, having gone through multiple masters of the highest nature during her years training. She can taken on a dozen ninjas by herself, moves as fast as a normal human being can, and knows how to use her opponent's weight against them with deadly force.
The Hand trains, primarily, ninjas. While Elektra's abilities go beyond Ninjutsu, having had other teachers, she has been highly trained in the art of simply not being seen. She can scale walls, blend into shadows, manage across surfaces that should not hold her weight, and handle any of the classic stealthing techniques the ninjas of legend know. If the woman doesn't wish to be seen nothing beyond supernatural senses will see her.
Still a debutant and a spoiled rich girl, Elektra's years of training included dancing for quite some time. She's quite capable in ballroom, swing and Latin dancing. It's one of the few relaxing things she actually enjoys.
Not a doctor, but Elektra has studied the body for many years - specifically focusing on the ways she can defeat it. She knows all the various pressure points on the human body which can be used to quickly down or even kill an opponent. While this skill is specifically limited to humans, should she have study time and access to knowledge about other species, she would be able to pick up such understanding for them as well.
Elektra is an assassin. Killing comes to her as naturally as breathing. Her instinct is to slay, not merely to defend herself or render her opponents helpless. This often places her at odds with other, more moderate (or, arguably, sane) individuals. There's also dozens, possibly hundreds, of individuals throughout the world who have a personal vendetta against Elektra for killing someone they loved or respected.
Having been brought back to life by The Beast, the demon still has a hold in her head. While she doesn't hear it all the time, the nightmares it gives her are awful and she often can hear it's bloodlust whispering in her skull, especially in the quiet hours of the night. It makes her temper awful and she has yet to figure out how to control or rid herself of this.
While Elektra is very good at putting up a good game, she still doesn't know much of this world. She's trying to step into her predecessor's shoes, but she's getting the impression that the Elektra here was nicer than she is and kept up a better face for business. She can still be caught off guard by this place and she really has no clue what is going on.
The Hand, in this reality as well as her home reality, is quite upset to have lost their master assassin after so many years training. While Elektra here thinks she has escaped them, the truth is they are still biding their time to set up the perfect situation to bring her back. They either want her in their numbers or dead and will do anything to see that happen in the future.
Elektra has only just arrived on this place at the end of the Secret War and is trying to figure out how to put together a new life for herself.
