Kate can work as part of a team, but when it comes down to it, she doesn't like to be told what to do. She does what she wants for her own reasons (the right ones, according to her), and anyone who tells her otherwise is in for a surprise.

Kate lives for a challenge. Telling her she can't do something is just inviting her to do it.

Put simply, Kate is spoiled rotten. She's from a rich family, so she's rarely had to go without, and she's gifted enough that most things have always come easily for her. The world is her oyster, she hasn't met with much failure…She pretty much expects things to work out for her because they somehow always have.

+ PROTECTOR

Kate can't let injustice stand. She can't let anything stand if she doesn't think it's right. She stood up against attackers at her sister's wedding, she volunteers at soup kitchens and shelters. When she sees someone being hurt or taken advantage of, she can't just walk away.

+ OPTIMIST

When you don't know much about failure, everything always looks rosy. Kate loves being a hero. She lives for it. And when something goes wrong, she rolls with the punches and moves on to plan B. Or plan M, as the case may be. She believes she can achieve whatever she wants, and that things will eventually work out.

Kate's seen a lot. There's the usual slight jadedness that comes from having the money to do whatever you want, but she's also seen the darker side of the world and the stranger side that comes with heroics. She can be surprised, but she doesn't let it break her stride.

+ Motivation

Kate has believed in doing the right thing no matter what for a long time. When she was young, she discovered that her father had been dabbling in the criminal underworld and began to pull away from him, wanting to make a difference in her own way. Everything became more important, though, after she was attacked. She began to train then not only as a way to deal with the trauma and learn to protect herself, but because she believed above all else that if she could stop it from happening to anyone else, then she had to. Everyone deserves to feel safe, and Kate will do what she has to to make sure they can.

+ Goals

First and foremost, Kate wants to protect people and keep them safe. But she also wants to be the best. She might train with Barton, but she's certainly not his sidekick. And an argument could be made that she has the natural ability to surpass his skills eventually. She'd also like to bring down her father's criminal enterprises.

Advantages

+ TRUST FUND

Kate has one. She's also been (at least for now) cut off from the rest of Daddy's money, but she has enough wealth to get what she needs.

+ HAND-EYE COORDINATION

Kate has a knack for aim and coordination in general. Years of practice with the bow have honed her skills when it comes to making things in her hand connect to things somewhere else.

+ BOW AND ARROWS

While Kate prefers standard or blunt arrows, she knows how to use the fancy ones, too. Without an R&D department of her own to develop them, though, she usually makes do with the simpler kind.

+ MENTOR

Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) is Kate's mentor. She can count on him for information, support, and supplies if needed. She can also count on him to need her help, but that's really how you meet the most interesting people anyhow.

+ ARCHERY

Kate is one of the world's greatest archers. (THE greatest, if Clint's present to be offended by the claim.) She can accurately shoot up to five arrows at once.

+ MARTIAL ARTS

Kate is a skilled martial artist, with training in boxing, jiu jitsu, and other forms of self-defense. She's not likely to beat someone who specializes in hand to hand combat, but she can hold her own against untrained thugs and other multi-taskers.

+ ADEPT SWORDSWOMAN

Kate is adept at both fencing and sword fighting.

+ CELLIST

Kate is a skilled cellist who spent summers at Interlochen.

+ ATHLETICS

Kate is in excellent shape for someone of her size and build, with enough training to keep up with powered people…as long as she's smart about it.

+ DRIVE

Kate's a New Yorker, and she drives like one. She can drive stick shift or automatic and drive it like she stole it.

+ ASL

How do you win an argument with someone who can turn off their hearing aids and literally not hear you anymore? By continuing the argument in ASL. Kate's learned partly for the practical operational purposes, but also because she refuses to lose an argument with Clint by default.

Disadvantages

+ ONLY HUMAN

Kate doesn't have any special powers. She's just human, and not a very big one at that. Even if she's at the top of her game, she's going up with and against people who are superhuman.

+ CUT OFF

Right now, Kate's not entirely welcome at family dinners. It happens when you interfere with the Very Important Plans Dad's criminal enterprises had in real estate. Trust fund or no, she has some adjustments to make in her life.

+ MENTOR

Sharing a name with Clint Barton comes with its own risks. His enemies might not know anything about her except that she means something to him, and that can make her a target. Not to mention, when he gets into trouble, she's not far behind trying to make sure he doesn't end up dead.

+ HAPPY FAMILIES

Kate doesn't have one. She was close with her mother, but her mother passed several years ago. And her father is not only involved in criminal enterprises, but now knows what she does in her free time. There are complicated relationships and a lot of risks.
