Origin

+ Part 1: Birth

Kiyoko Nihara is the oldest of three children to a family from Tokyo, Japan to her mother Ayumi Shinozaki and her father Mizuko Nihara. Her younger siblings are Akito Shinozaki and Aiko Nihara who were born two and four years after her.

+ Part 2: Childhood

Her mother was a common housewife working hard to keep the house clean while taking care of children while her father worked at a game producing company. Being the oldest child, Kiyoko was often asked to help with housework and look after her two youngest siblings. Her family was deeply spiritual. They prayed every day before each meal. They even kept a shrine in their backyard. Things were peaceful until…

+ Part 3: Tragedy

One day when Kiyoko was 10 years old, her father came down with a terrible illness which consists of coughing and wheezing. He ignored it because of work reasons, but the symptoms kept persisting even growing worse over weeks. After two months of this cold, he finally decided to go to a hospital where he was diagnosed with a late stage of pneumonia. the doctors tried to keep him alive but it was too late. He died less than 24 hours after being admitted to the hospital.

+ Part 4: Immigration

After her father's death, her mother decided to move the family to the United states in hopes of starting fresh. It was hard for her mother to get adjusted to working outside of the house and she was struggling to make ends meet. When Kiyoko was sixteen, she decided to learn how to drive and get a job so she could help her mother. She worked at a fast food place earning minimal wage which was helpful to the family.

+ Part 5: The accident

One day as Kiyoko was driving home from a late night shift, she was hit from behind by a drunk driver. She was wearing a seat belt but the impact sent her head forward and down where her voice box collided with the steering wheel crushing it instantly. Other drivers called for police and an ambulance and she was taken to a hospital immediately, because her voice box was crushed so severely, she couldn't tell the doctors who she was. It was at that moment, her mother called and the doctor told her what happened. Ayumi rushed to her daughter's side along with Akito and Aiko. Doctors recommended giving her a keyboard and robotic voice to read what she typed but her mother refused.

+ Part 6: Disowned

After being discharged from the hospital, Kiyoko struggled to adjust to life without her voice and was even fired from her job because she couldn't communicate with customers. This sent Kiyoko into a deep depression but she figured if she could summon a shikigami to act as her voice she could return to life as a normal teenager, so she began the ritual for the first time. It took many attempts and even months to successfully complete her first shikigami with whom she had a telepathic connection to act as her voice. upon discovering her daughter's sacrilegious act, Ayumi immediately disowned her daughter and Kiyoko was cast out of the family and then had to make her own way in life.

+ Shikigami summoning

Kiyoko knows how to create spiritual guardians and followers called Shikigami. She can only summon one shikigami for her defense. This shikigami is an expert weapon user and can easily use any weapon to do its job.

+ Shikigami telepathy

Since birth, Kiyoko has had limited telepathy. She can only communicate with Shikigami, whether her own or other people's.

Advantages

+ Shikigami Mamoru

She can summon a spiritual guardian called Shikigami which she named Mamoru. Mamoru is an older tall lean well build male with short somewhat spiky black hair and dark brown eyes. He is often dressed with a casual blue t-shirt and denim jeans and black sneakers. He carries a sheathed sword and holstered pistol carefully buckled around his belt for protection. Weapon Master Ability: Mamoru is an expert at handling any and all weapons, not just the two he carries by his side. Japanese: He can read, write and speak Japanese.

Disadvantages

+ Ritual

Kiyoko's shikigami only last around 28 days before she has to perform the ritual to create a new one. This ritual takes several days to execute, during which time, Kiyoko is extremely focused on it. Some of her spiritual energy is being transferred into a new shikigami, leaving her completely oblivious to her surroundings.

+ Core Material

Shikigami require a small material object to serve as the core or heart of a shikigami. This core has to be significantly damaged or destroyed to destroy the shikigami entirely, reducing it to dirt and a broken item, whatever was used as the core. A shikigami can be hurt or damaged, much like any human. However, if the head is blasted open off a shikigami, they can still act. You must focus on the heart where teh core is to destroy the Shikigami. Any small tangible object can serve as the core for a shikigami. Kiyoko does not keep a stash of core materials around so if a Shikigami is destroyed, she has to find and acquire a new core before beforming a summoning ritual again.

+ Mute

Kiyoko has no voice so she is unable to communicate without writing down her thoughts if she doesn't have a shikigami.

+ Shikigami voice

If she does have a shikigami voice, she has to have them tell other that he himself is a conjured being to act as her voice and guardian.

She is a Japanese immigrant from a spiritual family. Her family believe in spirits and conjuring them to the physical world.
