Origin

+ Part 1: Birth

Rocket started life as 89P13, a genetically enhanced fur-creature. He was brought to Halfworld where they altered his genetics and added cybernetics and given sentient intelligence. His personality originates from many years of abuse and experimentation including multiple genetic rewrites. Eventually it drove him to create a pseudonym for himself: Rocket.

+ Part 2: Mercenary

The natural progression of several years of building anger, developing lightning fast reflexes, and an intense knowledge of gadgets, guns, and bigger guns was to become a mercenary. Finding a good partner in a Flora colossus named Groot (he's got the brawn, Rocket likes to think he has the brains), he ran jobs for much of the Galaxy's scum and villainy. This found him on the Nova Corps' most wanted list and his rap sheet is literally a mile long.

+ Part 3: Guardian

After some time, Rocket and Groot was sent to Xandar, where he spotted a juicy bounty, Peter Quill, aka Star Lord. While the human was preoccupied in a fight with another person, Rocket attempted to capture but was unsuccessful, and all 4 wound up arrested by Nova Corps. Transferred to a high security prison, they banded together to escape, and eventually formed the loose association that would lead to an official team formation: The Guardians of The Galaxy.

+ Part 4: Current

During the events of Secret Wars, Rocket and Groot were removed from their ship, transported to an odd planet. Baby Groot, still only in leafling form, was transported to a nursery in Trenton, New Jersey. Rocket Raccoon? Not so lucky. He was transported into a cage housing the star attraction at the New York State Zoo.

Rocket Raccoon is an Angry Raccoon. He lets things get to him, he often perceives the world is out to get him, and he can't stand when other people get one up on him.

+ Bitter Cynic

Not one to leave an insult on the ground when it can be sharpened into a weapon, Rocket uses his cynicism like most of his personality traits: as armor. He does not want to let people get close so instead he presents a bitter exterior, saving himself the trouble.

+ Humor

Sometimes brutal or demeaning, but always funny, Rocket is the class clown even if he doesn't understand why he's the laughing stock. His humor style is sardonic and sarcastic.

+ Loyalty

The one place Rocket will never compromise is loyalty. This loyalty is only given to his fellow Guardians, but he will always find a way to help them, and if at all possible, mostly himself. Groot is his soulmate, in a way, and Star Lord the big…furless…brother he never had. To these creatures he is eternally loyal.

Money, Violence, Revenge, "The Fun of It", and the safety of the only thing he has: his team.

+ Goals

Rocket aims to get rich. Filthy rich. He wants to roam the Galaxy and get into as much trouble as raccoonly possible to benefit his own selfish desires. This includes shiny weaponry, gadgets, things that explode universes, and alcohol.
