Satana doesn't forget those who have wronged her in the past, and she will often go to great lengths to settle old scores.
While preparing to perform a ritual, Satana doesn't think twice about peeling down naked 'for more freedom of movement'. Likewise, if she needs a soul energy fix she won't hesitate to pose as a streetwalker to lure in a victim.
Satana likes to flirt and tease, especially if she thinks it will make someone uncomfortable.
While Satana has embraced her demonic nature, she will most often do the right thing (even if it's for the wrong reasons). If her father wants her to recover a powerful artifact, she'll recover it and then give it to someone else for safekeeping rather than seeing it in her father's hands.
Satana is confident in her strengths and knowledge, sometimes relying upon them too heavily and diving headlong into trouble.
Perhaps 'sarcastic' is even too mild a term to describe her. Snarky and caustic might be more appropriate, even. Regardless, Satana has a dry wit and when her patience runs thin she can be almost verbally abusive.
It wasn't long ago that Satana was motivated solely by vengeance against those who have wronged her in the past, in one form or another. However, after her adventures with Strange and the Witches Satana's motivations have shifted. She has seen what occult power can do in the wrong hands, and she takes a keen interest in ensuring keeping that from happening again. Satana also takes great pleasure in foiling her brother's plans whenever she can. And she is, at heart, still a very selfish creature who places her own needs and desires ahead of others.
First and foremost, Satana made a pact with the other Witches to keep the Tome of Zhered-Na out of anyone's hands but their own. Along those lines, Satana continues to seek objects and artifacts of power that could be misused. Another goal of hers is to avoid being sent back to Hell (i.e. - don't die) unless it's absolutely impossible to prevent. Everytime she goes back, things just seem to run amok in her absence.
Satana can cast bolts of Soulfire. It is drawn from soul energy, typically of the wielder. The soulfire bolts cause psychic pain, damaging the soul of the target with or without causing physical harm. The soulfire bolts can feel like physical force or heat by the target if she wishes, hitting with equivalent force to damage reinforced concrete or searing with the heat of a cutting torch. Soulfire can also damage magical constructs.
Satana can levitate, but only herself and a modest amount of additional carrying weight. She can only move vertically up and down, and cannot truly fly without growing wings.
Satana can, with a kiss, drain a mortal's soul. The soul leaves the shrivelled body in the form of a butterfly, which she crushes to absorb its essence. Once the soul is drained, the spirit passes down to her father's realm of Hell. This power does not affect females and cannot affect psychic or psionic vampires.
Satana can teleport up to 25,000 miles in emergencies. She cannot teleport others, just herself. This is something she accomplishes through magic, and has appropriate limitations. She prefers to use burial grounds as gateways to teleport between dimensions; the older the better.
Satana learned demonic magic from Dansker, an ancient demon in her father's realm. Her magical knowledge is quite extensive and she can cast a wide variety of spells. Satana's spellcasting takes on one of three forms. Instantaneous, a technique which is fast but also taps into her personal energy reserves. Ritual, which requires little of her personal energy but takes a good deal of time. And lastly, tapping into some ambient mystical energy such as an ancient graveyard. When given the choice, she prefers to perform the appropriate ritual. It should be noted that her magical power increases with the more souls she has consumed.
Satana is able to project her soul to the Astral Plane and use her powers there. She is also able to astrally project others and bring them along with her. Satana can determine whether someone else is astrally projected, and can detect astral events without projecting herself directly.
Satana has some ability to control the minds of others through hypnosis and verbal suggestion. Generally speaking, those with weaker minds than hers are easier to control.
Satana can ritually adorn weapons with her bodily fluids, typically her blood. When someone is slain by such a prepared weapon she absorbs their soul energy. Bullets, knives and arrows all function well in this respect. She can also place her mark upon someone (typically a symbol traced in her blood) and absorb the soul energy of victims slain by them.
Satana can, if she chooses, alter her physical appearance to become more demonic. The shift is gradual and takes a couple of minutes to complete. Scaley skin, demonic eyes, horns, talons instead of fingers, and a fanged maw are all typical changes that she can affect. She can even sprout wings, cloven hooves, and the traditional spade-tipped tail if she chooses. Of course changing back is just as easily accomplished, and she changes back automatically when she becomes unconscious. When in altered form, Satana gains the animal equivalent attributes.
Satana subscribes to the viewpoint that 'technology is nothing more than debased, artifical magic'. She frequently experiments with combining magic and technology, sometimes even with successful results. An example of this is her using a magnetic energy tracker to locate a specific soul in the Hell. She still hasn't managed to get a good internet connection in Hell when she goes down to visit, however.
Satana is effectively immortal. When she dies, she goes to Satan's realm and can later return to the world of the living.
Due to her half-demonic nature, Satana is tremendously strong. She can bench press up to 10 tons and can perform other physical feats proportionate to her strength. This includes jumping, leaping, throwing and the like.
Satana is resistant to normal diseases and toxins. Magical and interdimensional diseases and toxins (such as Hell's version of the Bird Flu) will affect her, however.
As a result of her half-demonic heritage, Satana has an enhanced physique compared with full humans. She is strong enough to bench press up to 10 tons even in human form. While this also allows her to leap and jump extraordinary distances, Satana doesn't possess any gymnastic or tumbling training. She is also quite strong enough to fly when she sprouts wings in demonic form. Satana is quick enough to dodge bullets if she can see them, but again has no substantial training in hand combat.
Due to her half-succubus blood, Satana can operate for days at a time on little to no sleep. She can also expend tremendous amounts energy in spell casting, tapping into physical reserves that would kill a normal human through exhaustion. Satana can quickly recover from an exhausted state by draining soul energy, if necessary. She is also immune to aging, normal diseases and normal toxins than humans. She is succeptible to magical or interdimensional diseases and toxins, however.
Satana found a desecrated church and set up a 'body orchard' there that she uses as a food source. Her victims hang from the walls, ensorcelled to regenerate so that she can take small sips from their souls. She has concealed the site magically to avoid mundane detection.
Satana has spent years living in the underbelly of society in various countries. Along the way she's met quite a few unsavory people who either owe her favors or fear her enough to cash in one or two.
Satana grew up in her father's infernal plane. While many of the demons who mentored her in her youth have since perished, she still knows many others. And with her family's reputation, she has no small amount of influence over any demon she should meet.
Satana studied magic and the occult while she grew up in her father's realm. Learning both at the feet of an ancient demon gave her not only vast knowledge, but also a unique perspective. Satana has not only learned magic spells, but also about other dimensions, magical forces, and of course demons. Her specialty is demons and infernal magic, and she has a good general knowledge of most other types of spells.
When she was first exiled to Earth, Satana needed to feed on souls in order to survive. She quickly learned the art of seducing men in order to get what she wanted (their soul energy). And being half succubus, she became quite good at it.
Satana is a half-human, half-succubus who was taught magic while growing up amongst demons. She knows how to both cast spells as well as perform witchcraft rituals.
Satana has a way with people, putting it quite simply. Part charisma and part succubus sex-appeal, she can be quite good at convincing people to do what she wants. At least until she loses her temper.
Even though she grew up in her father's plane of Hell, Satana speaks a couple of languages besides English. The first is Latin, the language of the Church. The second is Hyperborean, the language of ancient magic. She also speaks a smattering of other languages that she's been exposed to over the years like German, Italian, and Spanish.
Being a woman of little physical means, Satana is quite comfortable living on the fringes of society. Living on the streets is convenient when it comes to finding easy victims as well. She is skilled at making connections as well as recognizing the flow of social and criminal elements.
Satana mostly embodies the old adage 'I'm a lover, not a fighter'. She prefers to either avoid fighting altogether or get others to do it for her. But when she's cornered she isn't bad in a brawl with reasonable odds (2 or 3 opponents at most).
Satana requires occasional feedings of soul energy in order to survive on Earth. This can come from a soul-draining kiss or even from a weapon or person she has marked to transfer soul energy of slain victims to her. This is a quick way to recharge her energy after particularly draining spell casting.
While Satana isn't exactly a household name, those in mystical circles know her for what she is: a soul-sucking half-succubus. And it comes as no surprise that those in the know are often reluctant to trust her.
While Satana has more readily embraced her demon heritage than her brother Daimon, she has also defied her father's wishes and plans on more than one occasion. And he isn't exactly known for his forgiving nature.
Satana has a host of enemies that she's made throughout the years. They include the Four (Karath, Raga, Ellin, Trachos/Miles Gorney), a group of animal-headed demons aligned to banish Satana to Earth. There are also many unnamed demons, worshippers of her father, and others who carry a grudge against her for various reasons.
Satana was born to the archdemon Marduk Kurios (under the guise of Mr. Hellstrom) and the human woman Victoria Wingate. She was 3 years younger than her brother Daimon. The family lives in a mansion on Fire Lake where the children are home schooled.
Victoria walks in on 6 year old Satana performing a ritual for her father involving a cat, a knife, and a lot of blood. Dad (who likes to call himself Satan) reveals his true nature to mom, and the whole thing ends badly. Mom gets committed to an asylum.
Daimon and Satana get separated and sent to foster homes. Satana never arrives, and is taken to her father's realm of Hell instead. She is schooled in demonic powers there, and Kurios bonds a powerful demon named Basilisk to her soul.
Satana is presented with a demonic familiar named Exiter and a demonic companion/slave named Zannarth. She studies under Dansker, an ancient demon. After Satana's 'graduation', she and Zannarth are both banished from Hell. Zannarth is banished to a netherworld, while Satana is banished to Earth.
In Manhattan, Satana discovers how to drain the soul energy from men and feed on it. Following her instincts, she moves to Los Angeles and becomes involved in the Church of the Dark Father.
Satana spends time in pursuit of a group of demons known as The Four, after discovering they were responsible for her banishment to Earth. The pursuit leads to the Netherworld, where she coerces Zannarth to aid her. They kill three and Zannarth perishes as well, but Miles Gomey the leader escapes.
Satana returns to Earth seeking information and perhaps vengeance. She is ambushed by a group of former soldiers led by Monsignor Jimmy Cruz, who beat her and leave her for dead.
Exiter brings help (Michael Heron, a former priest). The demon also kills and consumes a soldier who comes back to ensure that Satana is dead. Heron resists her call when she tries to feed from him. Locating Cruz, Satana loses Exiter to the N'Garai, who were summoned by Cruz. Ambushing Cruz, Satana dodges his shots and eats his soul.
Still in pursuit of Miles Gomey, Satana learns from the demon Agathon that Gomey has kidnapped Heron. She kills Agathon and eventually confronts Gomey, who she learns is really her father. Satan admits that the whole elaborate setup was just a test to prove her power and loyalty to him. Satana turns her back on her father, allowing Heron to die without feeding on his soul. Satan banishes her to Earth until she dies.
Gloria Hefford, who Satana met at the Church of the Dark Father, summons the demon-mother Kthara, gets in over her head, and ends up possessed. She tries to turn Daimon and Satana against each other.
Daimon and Satana battle, he nearly kills her (but she is protected and restored by Basilisk), Kthara then captures Daimon. She summons Basilisk again, who kills Kthara and leaves Satana drained. Brother and sister part on bad terms.
Satana returns to California, drawn by power use there to Dansker, while he is possessing another mortal. Satana defeats Dansker in this less powerful form, and summons Basilisk to destroy him.
Satana is turned mortal for a brief time by Camarilla of the N'Garai, given the false memories of Judith Camber, complete home and family. Basilisk rebelled within an hour and slew Judith's family. Satana eventually returned to her true form and memory after she and Basilisk destroyed Camarilla.
Satana offers to help Dr. Strange, who is possessed by a wolf demon thanks to Basilisk. She transports the possessed Strange, along with herself and Spiderman to the astral plane. They defeat the demons who were about to consume Strange's trapped soul, leaving Satana very weak. Strange's soul is freed, Basilisk breaks free and turns on Satana. He kills her with his sword, thus killing himself as well because he is bound to her.
Satana returns to Hell. Time passes, and she is once more sent to Earth. This time she was summoned by the Reverend Joshua Crow, who was reincarnating souls to be used for evil. Satana returned the favor by sending his back down to Hell.
Finding a deconsecrated church, Satana sets up her Body Orchard. Hanging her victims from the walls, she keeps them enspelled to regenerate so that she can sip from their souls.
Satana corrupts NYPD Detective Gunyon, marking him with her symbol so that every evil deed of his adds to her own power. However before she can make use of the additional power from Gunyon, Satana perishes under mysterious circumstances and returns to her father's domain.
Satana is summoned to Earth by Doctor Strange as the Child of Hell to assist Jennifer Kale and Topaz in defeating Hellphyr. The three form a coven to protect the Tome of Zhered-Na, even from Strange.
While Jennifer, Topaz, and Satana go their separate ways, The Three Witches remain in close, regular contact with each other.
Satana lingers in New York, only occasionally returning to the Body Orchard. No longer seeking to gather power for the conquest of Hell, her use of the Orchard is solely for sustenance now.
Satana works as a freelance occult specialist, when she's not tinkering with ways to meld technology and magic.
