Though, the call to heroism didn't come to Peter Parker immediately. To test his newfound abilities, Peter disguises himself and takes to the ring with Crusher Hogan in a wrestling contest — one hundred dollars tot he man who can survive three minutes! Naturally, his superhuman abilities manage to easily overcome Crusher Hogan in the ring. Capitalizing on this chance, a TV producer on scene offers Peter the chance to form a contract with him. Inventing the iconic Web Shooters to swing on and sewing his first red-and-blue costume, Spider-Man takes to the stage and becomes a television star overnight!
Unfortunately, Peter's newfound ego and self confidence takes the better of him. Fed up with being pushed around by others, Peter adopts a 'look out for number one' philosophy, leading him to allowing a thief to run right past him after his first show as Spider-Man. The thief manages to make it through the elevator and gets away. Spider-Man brushes off the policeman's complaints and goes off on his way — confident that the only people who matter are himself, Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
Becoming a TV sensation, Spider-Man takes the world by storm. However, upon returning home one fateful night from a day as Spider-Man, Peter Parker discovers a police car in front of his home in Queens. Alerted that his Uncle Ben's been shot and murdered by a burglar, Peter runs off in a mad dash as Spider-Man once discovering the location of the burglar. The burglar boards himself up in the old ACME warehouse, abandoned and a perfect position to defend himself against any policemen who enter. However, there is no defense from an enraged Spider-Man; cornering the man by the boarded up window, Spider-Man beats the burglar into unconsciousness before realizing a shocking truth. The man in his hands is the same thief he allowed to escape past him days ago — overtaken by guilt, Peter thinks of himself as his uncle's killer. If he had only stopped the man with his newfound abilities, Uncle Ben would still be alive to this day. Filled with remorse, Peter Parker understands an important lesson that day — that "With great power, there must also come — great responsibility!"
Orphaned at a very young age, the intellectually gifted Peter Parker lives with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May for a significant portion of his life. Peter Benjamin Parker grows up as an extremely bright young man with his aunt and uncle acting as surrogate parents, loving him as if he were his own son and being loved in turn. Despite the doting of his aunt and uncle, Peter grows up relatively isolated and outcast by his peers for his socially awkward personality and unpopular interest in the pursuit of science. This makes him a target of bullying for much of his time at Midtown High School.
Furthering his scientific hobbies, Peter Parker attends a public exhibition made by General Techtronics Corporation, demonstrating the handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials. Fifteen year old Peter Parker is bitten on the hand by a dying spider, which bites the nearest living being in a moment of shock in the last moments of its life. Said spider is revealed to have absorbed a fantastic amount of radioactivity, being the cause of its death, but also starting a change in the young Peter Parker's body. The radioactive spider bite mutates Peter Parker's body, gifting Peter with "the agility and proportionate strength of an arachnid".
Things were going well for Peter as Spider-man, that is until the portals started opening throughout the city and people he had never seen before came through. He stopped what he could, but the villains were faster, stronger, and more experienced then he had ever faced before. Still he fought, and did his best to hand them to the police until while he was fighting a multi-armed man that called himself doctor Octavius that seemed to know him better then he knew himself the building they were in was engulfed in a portal pulling them both in as they were too locked in combat to get away. Peter lost track of the Doctor as they were flung in multiple ways, Peter thought he would be lost in the portal between places forever until he saw a small light. Following the light he still has no idea how long it took him before he was just spit out again looking like he found his way back home.
Not knowing at first the world he was in at first glance looked identical to the one he left.. That is until he gets to his home, and sees there is a stranger living there. His Aunt is gone, and he doesn't recognize the people that are there now so he goes and walks to get all this through his mind. To his surprise people keep waving at him, and taking pictures with him like he is some celebrity, though he evades most the people running off here and there. That is until he runs into a news paper that states.. "Pete Parker is Spider-man!". Shocked he continues to walk away finding an old hat and jacket that didn't smell that bad to cover his appearance he faces the world alone and homeless, but he won't give up hope or living up to his responsibility.
Peter feels responsible for keeping his town safe. It is more then just a hobby it is a compulsion. He believes since his Uncle died it is on him to do everything in his power to fight crime, even if that means his own personal life suffers.
Peter likes to talk… a lot… He talks while he fights he talks when he is nervous, and most of the time he is a cracking a joke that may annoy both friends and foes alike.
Due to his individualistic style (having been a social outcast in his youth), Peter finds it hard to work in teams
Peter is the kind of guy that will do what is right, each life is important to him and sacrificing others for the "greater good" is not an option. Killing in general is not an option for him, as he will go out of his way to capture, or try to convince the bad guys to stop without killing.
After keeping his identity a secret for his whole time of being a superhero he is thrust into a situation where everyone knows he is Spider-man. He still acts differently as Peter, or Spider-man as it is an old habit , but publicly it is well known that Peter Parker is Spider-man.
Goal|Peter's goal is to help everyone in New York. Whether that is as Spider-man, or Peter Parker his goal is to use his skills and abilities to help New Yorkers the best he can. That has always been the goal despite whether he has no money or all of it.
Strength: Spider-Man's superior strength allows him to lift up to ten tons. This enables him to lift or throw objects as heavy as a semi-truck with relative ease. He is strong enough to knock out mundane individuals with a mere tap on the head, shatter concrete walls with a single punch, leap several stories with a single bound or clear the entire width of a highway.
Speed: Spider-Man is capable of moving and running at speeds far beyond the physical limits of normal and mundane humans. His abilities allow him to run at speeds fast enough to catch up to accelerating vehicles on foot.
Stamina: Spider-Man is capable of exerting himself at peak levels for several hours without feeling the slightest bit of tiredness or impairment from such energy obliterating toxins in his blood stream. Spider-Man has been known to also be capable of holding his breath for impressive and excessive minimum of eight minutes.
Durability: This makes his body and skin extremely more durable and stronger than an ordinary human. More than anything else, Spider-Man is capable of withstanding impacts of varying degree with simplicity and ease. Falls from great heights or even being smacked around by super strength are not as damaging (or fatal) as they would be to the bulk of normal humanity.
Agility: Spider-Man's coordination and agility are far beyond the charts of human ability. With musculature that puts him in the realm of being at least twice as limber and nimble as ordinary humans, Spider-Man has, roughly, the combined agility, ability and acrobatic talents as some of the most infamous aerialists, acrobats, parkour enthusiasts and then some.
Equilibrium: Spider-Man is in possession of a perfect equilibrium, which allows him to balance without a thought or hesitation, simply by instinct, on any object, regardless of its size or stature.
Reflexes: To be frank, Spider-Man's reflexes react at a rate that's at least forty times greater than an normal human being. Couple this with his Spider-Sense and Spidey is dodging almost every attack sent in his direction, including even the likes of gunfire, provided he's far enough away, of course. These enhanced reflexes are not as dependent on his Spider-Sense as they may seem, though they are a bit slower without it.
Perhaps his most useful ability is what has come to be known as Spider-Sense. When it tingles, Spidey is warned of danger of any type. Whether it be a fast-approaching bullet or tainted meat on a sandwich, his Spider-Sense will let him know what the danger is, where it is and even give him options on how to avoid it, all in a split-second. It is an instinctive ability mashed up with a radar, giving him a way to keep track and detect possible trouble in the city. His Spider-Sense can even be used to track radio frequencies and helps him keep his identity safe. This, truly is, Spider-Man's greatest asset.
Regardless of how smooth or slippery a surface may be, Spider-Man can make himself stick to it. His ability to attach himself to various solid surfaces is limited to his concentration, which he needs to bond himself to an object. A strictly conscious act, Spider-Man's wall-crawling is one of the more fearsome and impressive abilities that he has at his disposal. As many of his enemies have learned, he could be anywhere.
Spider-Man has a healing factor, though it is limited compared to some others with the same ability. Spidey's allows him to recover from severe injuries, ranging from broken bones and extreme tissue damage, in a matter of days. Essentially, cutting down the healing time from what would be weeks of recuperation for a normal human to record time. Once, Spidey even recovered from blindness in two days.
Spider-Man has an accelerated metabolism that gives him a high tolerance to drugs and diseases, allowing him to recover from being tainted by these things rapidly and in record time. The recovery time, of course, varies depending on the toxin or disease that is in his system, but it will always be vastly higher than normal. Spider-Man's physiology is so unique in scale that it could even enabled him to recover from vampirism.
Wrist mounted devices that are capable of shooting out Spidey's special adhesive "webbing". The Web Shooters can be modified and used to shoot the webbing out in different ways, depending on the positioning and the pressure Spidey's using on the triggers. Each Web Shooter takes a cartridge which holds a vast amount of webbing for Spidey's use.
A synthetic polymer adhesive with spider-web properties, Spidey's webbing is launched from his Web Shooters. The webbing has a variety of different uses and styles, but what remains constant is the strength of the webbing. It is said to be as strong as Kevlar, capable of holding up to 125 lbs. per square millimeter of cross section. Regardless of the use, the webbing is designed to lose strength, break down and evaporate after an hour of being exposed to the air. As an adhesive, the webbing is extremely sticky and difficult to get out of.
Small, spider-styled electronic devices that are designed to allow Spider-Man to track objects and individuals. Capable of adhering to almost any surface, the Spider-Tracers are attuned to a special frequency that can be tracked by a personally designed receiver (up to 20 miles away) or by his Spider-Sense (up to 100 yards away).
A belt worn underneath his costume which houses up to 30 web cartridges, a portable camera and the Spider Signal. The latter of which is capable of emitting a powerful, somewhat blinding, light in the style of Spidey's mask.
Spider-Man currently only has one costume. He can't afford spares. It is machine washable safe, though.
Perhaps one of the most admirable things about Spider-Man is the sheer power of his Force of Will. He is completely free of evil and temptation, able to withstand such attempts to turn him to the dark side with only the power of his will. Through this same incredible willpower he is capable of standing tall in the face of adversity, balancing his lives as Peter Parker and Spider-Man. You know that saying about what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger? That's Spider-Man.
Peter is the head of Parker Industries is a multi billion-dollar conglomerate that focuses on cybernetic limbs, and is working on the curing (de-powering) of Super-powered villains. The products this company has made has turned Parker into a very rich individual.
There is not much that will bring New Yorkers together, but one thing that does is Spider-man. He is their hero, and they will do what is needed to protect him if it comes down to it. Most have stories how they or someone they know has been saved by Spider-man, and he is looked up to as a symbol of what is right with New York. Though this does not include everyone, as there are still a few that don't like him at all, the majority are on his side though as their own New York Hero!
Peter Parker's IQ is somewhere north of 250. With this brilliance comes a natural affinity for the sciences. He is certainly not the most genius mind on the planet or anything, but he's certainly mentally gifted. In fact, his intellectual aptitude enables him to be well-knowledgeable in almost all facets of American based academics.
Peter's brilliance has been curved towards the various sciences. He exhibits exceptional skills in almost every known field of science. In line with that foundation, he possesses a level of excellence when it comes to inventions and the engineering of such things. He's also an accomplished amateur chemist and physicist.
Photographer| Peter is a skilled photographer that is talented enough to make a living doing freelance work throughout New York City. Some of his photos could be worth quite a bit if someone were to pay their value for them.
Spider-Man comes from a childhood of being bullied and pranked. Combining his experiences with his new superhuman abilities and creative mind, Spider-Man has a fighting style of combat that is all his own. He's an excellent hand-to-hand combatant that uses his powers and abilities to his advantage in every battle. His entire way of fighting is streamlined to work with his abilities fluidly. Unorthodox and volatile, Spider-Man's unpredictable manner of combat allows him to rival practically any opponent.
Spider-Man has mastered the art of slinging webs. Whether that is creating makeshift weapons or just classic spinning of webs, he's turn it into an art form. Hindered only by his imagination (and the amount of web fluid he has available), Spider-Man truly can sling a web any size. Spider-Man's use of this has become second nature and no longer requires constant conscious thought. The webbing has become an extension of himself and his abilities.
New Yorker|Spider-Man is a native of New York and his knowledge of the city is very high. That goes for everything from knowing the streets and neighborhoods to what looks out of place in the city he calls home. He's very observant when it comes to New York and is capable of getting from one side of the city to the other in record time, even for web-slinging. He is a New Yorker through and through and that's what makes him such a great hero for this city. He knows it and the people as well as he knows himself.
While it is not an actual curse, Peter Parker suffers at the hands of Spider-Man. Due to the fact that he's keeping his identity a secret, Peter Parker's life is never really going in the direction he wants it to. He's constantly forced to lie or stay away from the people he loves and cares about. He misses commitments and deadlines. He's even lost more jobs than he can remember, just because he was out saving people's lives. Relatively small things when compared to the big picture, Peter Parker still doesn't want to lose himself inside of Spider-Man and there's a constant struggle between trying to live his life and living the life of a hero.
Likely as a side effect of his powers and abilities, Spider-Man shares a weakness for the pesticide Ethyl Chloride with his namesake. While it does not kill him, like it does actual spiders, it does present him with a harmful substance that he does have to deal with from time to time. More often than not when there are those trying to "slay" him.
Spider-Man's Spider-Sense can find itself in a position that's less effective when blocked or weakened by specialized technology or specific drugs. While these things are in short supply, they do exist and should be noted. Spider-Sense also does not trigger against something that is not recognized as a threat. Without his Spider-Sense, Spider-Man can become vulnerable to attacks or surveillance, as he's forced to watch his own back. Also, without the use of his Spider-Sense, Spidey web-slinging becomes less fluid and natural and more concentrated actions needed to not smack into a building and die.
Peter Parker doesn't have any family left but Aunt May. She is, right now, the most important person in his life. She was always there for him growing up and though for now he doesn't even know where she is at. She becomes the top priority when danger is afoot and there are very few things that could make him choose something over Aunt May. Whever she is if he were to learn she was in danger he would go to help her if he could, dropping whatever else is on his plate at the time.
In the short time he has been doing it Spider-Man has, amassed an entire gallery of rogues that want him taken out of the picture, permanently. Spider-Man's enemies range from the D-List all the way up to the A-List in terms of Supervillainy. Still, though, no threat should be underestimated. Couple that with the fact that Spider-Man is actually responsible (sort of) for the creation of some of these villains and we've got ourselves a classic case of good versus evil.
Spider-Man's biggest flaw is his responsibility complex. He plants himself into situations that may or may not involve him directly because that is what he feels he must do. He's a hero and he will always choose the more responsible route, regardless of how easy or how hard that path turns out to be. There are bigger things at work in the world than him and he understands that fully. When given a choice, Spider-Man will always choose the path of responsibility and deal with the consequences or aftermath later.
Ever since he unknowingly attributed to the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter has been riddled with Guilt. He takes failure hard and the loss of life even harder. He doesn't know how to not feel guilt about a situation, especially a serious one or one that ends up badly. Even for those that used to be his friends that are now monsters, he feels partially responsible for these things. This is the source of his angst and when it gets the better of him, Peter seriously considers being Spider-Man… no more.
