- Ananym is the daughter of Belasco, a sorcerer who formerly ruled the dimension Otherplace (a.k.a Limbo); however she has no memories of her past or her demonic background.
- When Alpha Flight vanished off of Earth, the Canadian government recruited her along with Nemesis, Wild Child, Auric, and Silver to form Gamma Flight as Canada's new national protectors.
- Upon the return of Alpha Flight, Gamma Flight was ordered to arrest them, but both teams allied against Llan instead. When the government disbanded Gamma Flight, Witchfire chose to remain with Alpha Flight for further training while the rest of her old team departed.
- Witchfire was assigned to both Alpha Flight's trainee program, Beta Flight, and to their new Gamma Flight support team, specifically for supernatural purposes.
- Shaman tutored her in other forms of magic; this, combined with the meditative "communing" she regularly engaged in served to help prevent her remembering her unsettling past.
- After being briefly trapped in the Dreamqueen's realm with fellow Beta Flight members, she returned and was instrumental in Beta Flight's defeating the Master's Omega Flight and in driving the invading Ska'r from the Earth.
- She naturally assumed leadership of Beta Flight, but when Manikin was injured in battle, her guilt and anger awakened darker feelings and she lashed out, frying the mind of his poisoner, Jackal.
- The Hardliners invaded the Flight's Department H headquarters and beat Witchfire severely, but despite surgery which required her to shave her head, she soon recovered; however, the dark archaic in her head grew stronger.
When her father sought to use her to oppose the Goddess (the universe threatening "good" half of Adam Warlock). She evolved into a powerful demonic form.
- While in Limbo, the recently resurrected Illyana Rasputin attacks various other demons looking for the Soulsword and the original Bloodstone amulet. This does not go unnoticed by Mephisto, Blackheart, Satannish, Dormammu and Hela. Witchfire appears during the meeting, having summoned the demons together, and reveals she is now the current owner of the original amulet and vows to destroy Darkchilde and take her father's place as ruler of Limbo and his place at their table.
- In Limbo, Witchfire learns that Magik has left Limbo and assumes control. She stabs S'ym through the chest, seriously wounding him. Magik teleports in to find him chained to the throne. She asks what happened and he informs her that Belasco's daughter, Witchfire has taken control in her absence. Illyana is shocked to hear Belasco has a daughter and Witchfire steps out of the shadows and attacks Magik.
- As Magik confronts Witchfire, Witchfire claims everything Belasco ever owned including Magik's soul and after a quick battle, Magik is taken down by Witchfire who claims the second Bloodstone amulet. Witchfire stabs Magik through the chest, injuring her and knocking her out. Witchfire takes the Bloodstone from the X-Man Pixie and adds it to the original amulet, giving her four Bloodstones and a more demonic appearance.
- When Pixie teleports into the castle by herself, she runs into the throne room where she finds Magik bound by chains. Witchfire grabs Pixie by the throat and forces her to become her new apprentice and begins forging a new Bloodstone from Pixie's soul.
- Hearing the screams from the castle, Nightcrawler teleports the X-Men into the throne room. Once there, Witchfire turns Colossus and Wolverine against Mercury and Rockslide. Nightcrawler notices Illyana chained to a pillar and she asks him to stab her with Pixie's Souldagger, as it is the only way and that only he can do it because he is attuned to magic. He apologizes and stabs her. At that moment. Colossus punches Kurt and Witchfire finishes making her fifth and final Bloodstone from the now demonic Pixie. Kurt recovers in time to remove the Souldagger and Soulsword from Illyana and use them to free Colossus and Wolverine from their enchantment. Pixie then uses them to free Illyana so they can confront Witchfire. She tries to blast Illyana, but she is shielded by Mercury long enough for Illyana to strip the bloodstones from her and destroy the amulet they are in. Witchfire is then trapped in the Elder God's dimension with four of the bloodstones.
- Belasco summoned her once again to serve him.
- Under Belasco's control, she began spying on members of Alpha Flight that were under the control of the Goddess (transporting herself across the solar system to do so), and transformed Department H into an enormous demon-infested obelisk. She more than held her own against Alpha Flight nearly killing them several times, but the recovering Manikin managed to reach her inner humanity and she reverted back into a human with no memory of her true past.
- When the Canadian government ordered the disbanding of Alpha, Beta and Gamma Flights, Witchfire left to find her own place in the world.
*Witchfire has been recruited into Hydra's Department of Occult Armaments.
Witchfire does not remember her past or her heritage. This has left her unaware of the demon raging in her, and a good chunk of the bad she's done.
Witchfire believes in good. While she's easily mislead, she genuinely wants to do the right thing and protect people.
Witchfire has a demon, while it's mostly under the surface and forgotten, she can get short tempered and angry easily from time to time.
Witchfire has two small horns on her head. Maybe she's part satyr or something? She doesn't like them and uses her hair and magic to hide them.
Witchfire wants to help protect people. She's been studying magic and believes in her heart she can save people with it. Witchfire is curious about her past and where she came from. While a part of her training has been to suppress those memories, she wants to unlock them in a safe, healthy way.
Witchfire wants to be on another team like Alpha Flight and wield her magic to fight supernatural bad guys.
Witchfire is, at her core, infernal and wholly magical. Her father's lineage bestowed upon her a great potential. Albeit, she has only displayed this potential once when he, Belasco, opened the floodgates of her inner demon to be made real. This is a TP only level potential and is subject to TP and staff approval. However, she is quite skilled at many spells and they are listed below:
Witchfire innate senses allow her to detect and identify all forms of mystic energy near her (within 100 yards); at quieter moments she can attune these to sense non-mystical forces such as emotions or life energies (up to 10 miles).
Witchfire heals at a faster rate. Minor cuts will heal within a few hours. Gunshot wounds within a day. Severed limbs and mortal wounds will heal within a week.
A spell summoned with a wand it generates a light that can soothe and comfort the target. It's primarily used to break physical control and it causes great pain to the user who is in control of another and they will experience great pain until they free the target from their mind.
With her wand, she can generate powerful concussive blasts equal to that of a .50 cal rifle. She has also learned to send these blasts into a person's mouth (her hand over their mouth) to fry their brains.
This spell prevents component parts from joining together. For example, it is used to keep Firebug from connecting together.
On top of her natural ability to heal, she can also cast spells or focus her magical energy into healing herself or others at a much faster rate. This, like all spells, drains her endurance.
Witchfire can call forth magical constructs that can be used for variety of uses; such as: Creating light monsters. Summoning a giant hand that immobilizes a target or use these constructs as; Magical shields to protect her from attacks such as fire, physical damage and against magic.
She is capable of creating a small cage that will hold up to 4 persons within. This is magical in nature, stationary, and as strong as steel.
Performed with her wand, this magical spell will cause specific objects to be attracted to like objects. For instance for falling debris she performed this spell and the falling wood would seek wood and the falling metal would be attracted to metal.
A spell used to cut off outside influence manipulating a person. She chants "Ona Lorum Salman Admonstium" and those who were under control are released and in the process are knocked out.
With her wand she can cast a spell that makes her target feel great pain. If performed for a period of time it runs the risk of killing the person.
Witchfire can read and project thoughts through a telepathy spell. This is limited to line of sight when dealing with strangers. However, with familiar minds (like that of Department H members), she can maintain a rapport with all of them up to 100 miles.
Witchfire is able to teleport great distances. In her normal form, she's able to teleport to locations she is familiar with up to 3,000 miles. In her demon form, the limits are in the range of light years.
Witchfire can cast a time-loop spell that can trap a single person in a repeating loop of time. The loop is a circle of 5 seconds then resets upon itself.
If Witchfire remembers her dark heritage, such as knowing her father is Belasco and following the Dark Ones she transforms into her ultimate form granting her unreal level of magic. In this form Witchfire believed she could even defeat the Goddess. Her father wanted to use her so he could become the supreme being in the multiverse. In this form she can also create soulstones through capture and manipulation of other's souls. (As noted before, this is TP only and via Staff approval).
She is able to summon a large wall of water that is up to 50' in height, 10' depth, and up to 100' in length. This is used to stop projectiles and can even trap and potentially drown others within it.
She is able to move objects (up to 3 at a time) that weigh no more than 3 tons (combined) and perform fine manipulation. Therefore, she could toss around a car and two people and make them spin around till both persons puke. She can also type on a keyboard or push the big red button if need be. She can do this at a range of up to 30 yards.
Witchfire is able to manipulate electricity, light, fire, air, and water at will. These stunts are typically for attacking, for show, or for control of the environment. She can manipulate one element at a time and at a range of 40 yards. The damage done is no more than a .50 cal round. But still quite damaging and area effecting.
Witchfire is able to cast spells such as clean, season, sort, organize, illuminate, and so on. Things that are standard utility spells which aid in everyday living.
She is able to manifest a special wand that she uses to cast her magics through.
In demon form: Like Magik's soul sword, Witchfire is able to manifest a sword that focuses her soul energy into a razor sharp blade which will do significant damage to living things.
Witchfire is still attached to those within Department H (Alpha, Beta, Gamma Flights) and the staff and friends she made there, especially Shaman.
Belasco is her father. Albeit she is unaware of this on the conscious level.
Witchfire works for the supernatural department of HYDRA. She is unaware that HYDRA is the organization that employs her. She believes she works for a research group called Penta Corp.
Witchfire is familiar with the occult and lore of various Native American regions. She is also subconsciously familiar with Otherworld/Limbo demonic/infernal lore.
Witchfire is capable of defending herself in a hand to hand assault vs an unskilled combatant such as a mugger or street brawler.
Witchfire has been trained to survive in the Canadian wilderness. (temperate and subarctic zones)
Able to operate a PC, cell phone, DVR, drive a motor vehicle, cook with a microwave, and so on.
Witchfire has a demon raging inside of her. One whom she does not recall through amnesia/magic, but if ever released, it would really mess things up.
Witchfire only knows her real name and that she thinks she was an orphan in Canada before Department H picked her up to have her join the various hero teams of the region. She isn't sure who she is or her true origins. But she's still quite functional as a person.
He's still out there and will have full intention of manipulating his daughter to his own desires.
There are those infernal beings out in the world who would take advantage or seek to kill Witchfire because of her heritage.
The Master of the World has plans for Witchfire but he also knows that she's quite powerful. So he plots and plans his ultimate next move.
Not friends, not at all. But Pixie and Magik both understand that Witchfire was under her father's control when she did all those bad things. They also have been informed by the Shaman not to spill the beans about Witchfire's heritage if they encounter her again.
Former Alpha/Beta/Gamma Flight member and a student of the Shaman. Had a bad run in with the X-Men-especially Magik and Pixie. Has amnesia that should not be remedied or lifted.
