Origin

+ Part 1: Pre-Mutation

Paige is the daughter of Mary and Harold Piefer and was raised, alongside her older brother, in a strongly anti-mutant household with ties to the Friends of Humanity. Her mother worked within local government while her father ran her grandparents' grocery store in town. Eight years her senior, her brother Ryan was employed in local law enforcement and would sometimes come home with horror stories involving the 'monstrosities'.

Paige's childhood was rather uneventful and mundane. In school, her grades were never too bad and she managed to gain acceptance to a good college. Though her favorite classes were in philosophy and sociology, her parents expected her to graduate with a business degree. Shy, Paige often turned to reading as an escape from the daily stress of social anxiety and was close with only a few friends. Despite some ups and downs, everything appeared to be relatively fine - that is, up until her mutation began to reveal itself during summer break.

+ Part 2: Manifestation

At first it was small, just nubs protruding from her skull. Maybe that would be all. Maybe she could keep them a secret and get them shaved off. She was able to keep them covered with hoods and hats. A few months into the fall semester of her sophomore year, they had begun to grow substantially in size. When finals ended and winter break came along, she feared for the worst, having no idea how her family would react to her changes, and informed her parents she would not be staying with friends. However, Paige instead tossed her smartphone, withdrew cash from her bank account, and fled to New York City.

Curious, although hesitant and a bit defensive, Paige is rather shy and insecure. She has trouble accepting other mutants at this time and definitely has issues accepting herself, given how she was raised. She is ashamed and disturbed by her current physical changes and is unaware that they are ongoing. Her uncomfortableness may lead to convulted speech patterns and sometimes towards irritability, but the more comfortable she is, the more compassionate and patient she becomes.

+ KINDHEARTED

Beneath the shame and grief Paige feels over her mutation and having to leave her family behind, she is a loving and caring individual. At times, this can lead her to make promises she cannot keep, though she will try her darnedest to bring them to fruition.

Paige finds motivation in helping others and feels most fulfilled when she is providing aid, emotional or otherwise, to individuals.

Abilities

+ HORNS

Paige has horns. She doesn't tend to, but she could use them to headbutt folks. They're pretty sturdy, but not stronger than the average horn one would find on an animal. Granted, they are a bit thick.

+ HOOVES

Paige will develop hooves down the line. Ungulate, cloven hooves with dew claws. Once she masters walking with them, they will be able to give her a sturdier balance than the average person and perhaps prove to be an asset in climbing.

Paige's mutation is physical and visible and will become moreso as it continues to manifest. This makes her an easy target for those looking to start trouble with or harass a mutant.

+ Physical Changes

As Paige's mutation continues to manifest, the changes will first be disadvantageous to her. Trying to relearn how to walk with hooves can be somewhat difficult.

+ No Safety Net

Paige has run away from home and it is likely that her family would disown her were they to discover her mutant status. She currently has no friends of family to fall back on.
